Redefining Futures High School Intern
Location: Charlotte, NC (Hybrid)
Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. unless otherwise approved by manager
Program: Summer Internship (High School)
About the Program
The Redefining Futures Internship Program offers high‑school students’ meaningful exposure to careers in technology, engineering, cybersecurity, data analytics, business operations, and corporate functions. Interns gain hands‑on experience through project work, job shadowing, weekly mentorship, and end‑of‑program presentations. Project areas have included SharePoint site creation, data analytics, cyber research, process documentation, and technical programming support.
Eligibility Requirement: Student at one of the NAF partner high schools.
Key Responsibilities
Intern responsibilities may vary based on team assignment and business needs. Typical responsibilities include:
• Supporting research and documentation efforts, including building internal repositories or reference materials.
• Assisting with SharePoint site development, content organization, and design updates.
• Performing data cleaning, analysis, and visualization using Excel and other dashboards.
• Participating in team‑specific technical tasks such as Python scripting, cybersecurity analysis, or special project support.
• Preparing and delivering concise presentations summarizing project work and outcomes.
• Applying structured problem‑solving approaches such as the CORE method to improve processes or address challenges.
Qualifications
• Current high‑school student in one of the Charlotte, NC areas high schools NAF partners with.
• Interest in technology, engineering, cybersecurity, data analytics, or business operations.
• Basic proficiency with Microsoft 365 tools (Excel, Teams, PowerPoint, SharePoint).
• Strong communication, time‑management, and collaboration skills.
• Curiosity, willingness to learn, and attention to detail.
• Familiarity with data analysis or introductory programming (e.g., Python) is a plus but not required.
Work Environment
• Hybrid role based in Charlotte, NC, with some required on‑site engagements throughout the program.
• Interns will collaborate with mentors, teams, and fellow interns through meetings, project reviews, and shadowing opportunities.
• Final presentation may take place onsite or in a hybrid format.
Program Details

• Hours: Monday–Thursday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. unless discussed and approved by manager
• Program Length: Typically, 6-7 weeks, mid‑June through early August (final dates updated annually)

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.
Hybrid: Employees who are working in Hybrid roles will work regularly both onsite and offsite. Ratio of time working onsite will be determined in partnership with your leader.
Remote: Employees who are working in Remote roles will work primarily offsite (from home). If you live within a reasonable commute of an RTX site with other colleagues you interact with, your manager will discuss whether there is a degree of onsite presence associated with this role.
Candidates will learn more about role type and current site status throughout the recruiting process. For onsite and hybrid roles, commuting to and from the assigned site is the employee’s personal responsibility.

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.
Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
