Job Overview
We are currently seeking a skilled and compassionate Adult Neuro Rehab Speech and Language Therapist to join a specialist Neuro Rehabilitation Service based at Dorking Hospital. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Band 6 clinician looking to provide specialist assessment and rehabilitation for adults with neurological conditions within a community setting.
The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality Speech and Language Therapy services to adults presenting with communication and swallowing difficulties following neurological injury or illness. You will work closely within a multi-disciplinary team to support patients in achieving meaningful rehabilitation goals and improving their quality of life.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:• Provide specialist Speech and Language Therapy services to adults referred to the community neuro rehabilitation service.• Conduct comprehensive and multi-disciplinary assessments, taking into consideration premorbid abilities, environmental factors, and individual patient needs.• Deliver differential diagnosis of communication and/or swallowing impairments.• Develop and implement personalised therapy programmes with clear SMART goals tailored to the patient’s level of understanding, motivation, insight, and support network.• Support patients with self-management strategies and rehabilitation planning.• Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical records in line with professional standards.• Work collaboratively with the wider multi-disciplinary team to deliver holistic patient care.
Qualifications and Experience
To be considered for this role, you must have:• A recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent).• HCPC registration and eligibility for membership of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT).• Previous experience working within adult neuro rehabilitation services.• Experience assessing and managing adults with communication and swallowing difficulties.• Strong clinical reasoning, assessment, and care planning skills.• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a patient-centred approach.
