In this role, you will facilitate Agile ceremonies, remove delivery impediments, drive team execution, and foster continuous improvement across cross-functional teams building trusted, secure, and scalable AI-enabled information systems.
You will work closely with Product Owners, business stakeholders, architects, engineers, data scientists, testers, security teams, and operations teams to support the successful planning, coordination, and delivery of AI solutions that improve operational workflows, decision-making, and mission outcomes. This role requires strong Scrum Master leadership, deep experience in SAFe Agile delivery, and the ability to support teams working on AI-enabled capabilities such as intelligent search, document understanding, summarization, workflow automation, predictive analytics, and human-in-the-loop decision support.
This role is ideal for a servant leader who excels at enabling high-performing Agile teams, driving program execution, and helping organizations deliver business value through iterative development in complex enterprise environments.
What You Will Do
Serve as SAFe Agile Scrum Master
• Serve as the Scrum Master for one or more Agile teams delivering AI-enabled information systems in a SAFe Agile environment.
• Facilitate Agile ceremonies including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, retrospectives, and other team synchronization activities.
• Support Program Increment (PI) Planning, iteration execution, dependency coordination, and alignment with broader program objectives.
• Partner closely with Product Owners, Release Train Engineers, technical leads, and stakeholders to promote transparency, execution discipline, and delivery predictability.
• Help ensure Agile practices are applied consistently and effectively across the team in alignment with SAFe principles and organizational delivery standards.
Enable Delivery of AI-Enabled Information Systems
• Support Agile teams delivering AI-enabled capabilities such as document understanding, semantic search, summarization, recommendation, intelligent automation, conversational experiences, and decision-support tools.
• Help teams manage the unique delivery considerations of AI-enabled systems, including experimentation, iterative model improvement, data dependencies, integration readiness, and validation of AI outputs.
• Coordinate across business, engineering, data science, testing, and operations teams to help ensure AI features are delivered in a practical, usable, and supportable manner.
• Promote iterative delivery approaches that balance speed, quality, trust, governance, and technical feasibility.
Remove Impediments and Improve Team Performance
• Proactively identify, track, escalate, and help resolve impediments that impact team delivery, quality, or velocity.
• Coach teams on Agile best practices, collaboration, self-organization, estimation, work management, and continuous improvement.
• Foster an environment of accountability, focus, transparency, and continuous learning.
• Use Agile metrics and team insights to identify improvement opportunities and support more effective sprint and PI execution.
• Help teams improve delivery flow, reduce bottlenecks, manage risk, and strengthen cross-functional coordination.
Drive Cross-Team Coordination and Program Execution
• Support coordination of dependencies, risks, constraints, and integration points across multiple teams and stakeholders.
• Work with Product Owners and technical teams to maintain sprint readiness, clarify priorities, and support achievable delivery commitments.
• Facilitate communication between technical and non-technical stakeholders to ensure alignment on scope, progress, risks, and decisions.
• Help maintain visibility into team progress, delivery health, impediments, and upcoming milestones.
• Contribute to release readiness and support smooth transition of completed capabilities into testing, deployment, and operations.
Support Quality, Governance, and Responsible Delivery
• Encourage Agile delivery practices that support quality, traceability, and compliance in environments with sensitive data and strong operational controls.
• Help teams incorporate governance, security, testing, and documentation requirements into delivery planning and execution.
• Support delivery practices that address the operational realities of systems handling PII, PHI, CUI, or other sensitive information.
• Promote responsible and well-governed delivery of AI-enabled capabilities, including support for human-in-the-loop review, transparency, and auditability where required.
Champion Agile Maturity and Continuous Improvement
• Coach team members and stakeholders on SAFe Agile values, Scrum practices, and effective delivery behaviors.
• Facilitate retrospectives that lead to actionable improvements and measurable team progress.
• Help strengthen Agile maturity across the organization by sharing best practices, lessons learned, and delivery insights.
• Encourage collaboration, trust, and adaptability in support of evolving business and mission needs.
