AI Engineering Director
About this role
Accountabilities:
• Lead the architecture, design, and implementation of AI/ML systems from early concept through production deployment.
• Define engineering standards, best practices, and scalable AI system patterns across teams.
• Translate complex healthcare and business problems into robust, production-ready AI solutions.
• Oversee model development, evaluation, deployment, monitoring, and lifecycle management.
• Partner with Product and Engineering leadership to define AI strategy and roadmap priorities.
• Mentor and coach engineers across levels, raising overall technical maturity and delivery quality.
• Drive responsible AI practices, ensuring security, privacy, compliance, and ethical considerations.
• Evaluate emerging AI technologies and lead innovation initiatives to enhance platform capabilities.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure alignment between AI systems and business objectives.
Requirements:
• 8–10 years of experience in data engineering, architecture, or AI/ML-focused roles, including 2+ years in technical leadership.
• Proven experience leading AI/ML initiatives from concept through production in fast-paced environments.
• Strong hands-on knowledge of AI/ML systems, including production deployment and scaling.
• Experience with modern data and AI platforms such as Databricks and related ecosystem tools.
• Familiarity with RAG architectures, SQL agents, and modern AI orchestration patterns.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to structure complex technical challenges.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and elevate team performance through technical leadership.
• Experience driving engineering best practices and system design standards across teams.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to operate in a dynamic, fast-evolving environment with strong ownership mindset.
