Analyst, Application Systems & Data - Hybrid
The Opportunity
Are you excited by the idea of spotting trends, solving problems, and driving continuous improvement every day? This is not a traditional data analyst or IT role — you will work at the intersection of business processes, regulatory programs, and enterprise systems to identify opportunities, solve problems, and support branch-wide initiatives. As the Analyst, Application Systems & Data, you will play a key role in supporting the Regulatory Applications Branch by connecting systems, data, and business operations.
In this position, you will collaborate with technical teams, leadership, and program staff to improve how work gets done, ensure systems meet operational needs, and support strategic priorities for the organization. This is a dynamic role combining analysis, coordination, problem-solving, and continuous improvement. The responsibilities are broader than data analysis and are business-focused. This role is not suited for candidates solely focused on IT specialization.
What your day-to-day will look like:
• Identify emerging issues and opportunities that support the branch’s strategic direction, identify inefficiencies, and coordinate work to address opportunities and drive continuous improvement to ensure branch business goals are met.
• Conduct data reviews and trend analysis to explain, interpret and provide customized information to teams and leadership. Identify data integrity issues and provide input on how to improve data processes.
• Prepare raw data and associated reporting for use in branch planning. Respond to routine and ad hoc data requests.
• Coordinate and fulfill high-priority requests from leadership and stakeholders.
• Contribute to enterprise projects and support subject matter experts.
• Support business continuity planning and operational readiness.
What we’re looking for in you:
• Bachelor’s degree in business, computer science, project management, or a related field.
• 3 to 5 years of experience in an energy or regulatory environment that includes analytics, project work (leading projects), continuous improvement initiatives, and/or planning.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
• Ability to lead through influence and collaborate across teams.
• Experience supporting projects or process improvement.
• Strong communication skills bridging business and technical areas.
Additional Information:
• All applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada at the time of application.
• Should an individual with the required qualifications not be available, applicants with closely related qualifications may be considered. As a result, the position may be redesigned and/or reclassified.
• If you need accommodation during any stage of the recruitment process, please email [email protected]. Information relating to the need for accommodation and accommodation measures will be addressed confidentially.
What we offer you:
• Great benefits from your first day of work
• Flexible Work Program - hybrid work and flexible hours
• Edmonton: Hybrid work - employees located in Edmonton will work in office two days per week
• All other locations: Hybrid work - employees may work remotely up to five days per calendar month, with a limit of two remote days per week
• Generous vacation entitlement and flex days
