About this role

New Position: This position is open due to an existing vacancy to support our evolving business needs.

Summary:

Millions of professionals rely on Thomson Reuters’ products every day, and we want data to drive every decision we make about them. We're hiring a Data Analyst to join our team during an exciting period of AI-driven change – working closely with a senior analyst to shape how product teams measure success and act on insights.

The Analyst will serve as the primary owner of product analytics platforms (including tools such as Pendo), functioning as an embedded partner within the product team. This role requires the ability to evaluate qualitative AI outputs alongside quantitative data, translating complex AI behaviors into actionable insights through model performance evaluation, response quality assessment, and measurement of user trust and adoption.

This position is ideally suited for an experienced product or business analyst with a strong data foundation, hands-on experience with AI/ML product analytics, and a nuanced understanding of the challenges involved in measuring AI effectiveness. Success in this role requires strong people skills and a proactive, curious approach, finding ways to plug into product and engineering rhythms, building trust quickly, and continuously asking the right questions to uncover insights.

About the Role:

In this opportunity as a Data Analyst, Product Analytics, you will be responsible for:

• Data-Driven Decision Making: Use product analytics/data to recognize patterns and trends to understand user behavior and identify improvement opportunities.

• Measurement Frameworks: Proactively establish measurement frameworks/success metrics for new product launches/features and drive actionability through data-driven insights.

• Tag Management & Instrumentation: Maintain and expand Pendo tagging across the product, ensuring features, pages, and user interactions are accurately tracked as the product evolves. Partner with Product and Engineering to audit existing tags, deprecate stale instrumentation, and instrument net-new features ahead of launch to ensure day-one data coverage.

• AI-Powered Analytics:  Apply AI-native analytics approaches, using LLMs to analyze unstructured data, leveraging RAG-based retrieval concepts to synthesize information across knowledge bases (hands-on implementation not required), and using GenAI tools to automate reporting and surface insights, with clear human-in-the-loop review, QA, and validation practices to ensure accuracy, reliability, trust, and appropriate use.

• Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain strong working relationships with peers, product managers, and senior leadership, acting as a collaborative partner to drive analytical insights across your portfolio. This role also includes dedicated time (~10%) for reporting product usage data to cross-functional stakeholders outside of the product team.

• Reporting & Communication: Own recurring and ad-hoc reporting for your product portfolio, translating complex analyses into clear narratives tailored to the audience, from deep-dive reviews for product and engineering partners to executive-ready summaries for senior leadership. Ensure reports are accurate, timely, and consistent.

• Pendo Guide Development (10% of role): Author and maintain in-app Pendo guides to support users' onboarding and feature adoption. Guide development is often iterative and detail-heavy, requiring patient trial and error to get targeting, styling, and conditional logic right across edge cases. We're looking for someone who embraces that process, methodically works through unknowns, and doesn't lose momentum when the tenth variation is the one that finally works. Working knowledge of HTML/CSS and basic JavaScript is beneficial for building guides that go beyond default templates.

• Thought Leadership: Demonstrate thought leadership by proactively leveraging analyses to understand products, derive insights, run experiments, and be the contact point for any analytics needs for your portfolio.

About You:

The ideal candidate for the Data Analyst - Product Analytics position possesses:

• At least 3 years of relevant experience in product analytics, data science, or a related discipline.

• Advanced proficiency in SQL and Python.

• Advanced expertise in developing and maintaining dashboards and reports.

• Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex datasets and convert findings into actionable recommendations.

• Familiarity with natural language processing techniques and large language models.

• Demonstrated experience driving data-driven decision-making within product teams, going beyond report generation to deliver insights through data storytelling. Experience with analyses such as customer journey mapping, audience profiling/segmentation, cohort analysis, tag management, and A/B testing.

• Hands-on experience with AI tools for analytics.

• Ability to implement effective QA and governance practices for AI-assisted analytics.

• Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills, with the capacity to integrate seamlessly into existing product and engineering workflows, exercise influence without direct authority, and demonstrate persistent curiosity to uncover underlying trends in data.

• Hands-on experience with product analytics platforms such as Pendo, Amplitude, Adobe Analytics, and Google Analytics.
