About the Role
Are you an emerging IT professional eager to kickstart your career in data and integration? Macquarie University's IT team is looking for a Data and Integration Assistant to support our Data and Integration team within People and Services.
This is a junior-level opportunity to gain hands-on experience with modern databases and integration platforms that power a world-class university.
In this role, you will provide essential support for systems that impact students, researchers, and staff. You will work in a supportive, collegiate team environment where learning and professional growth are prioritized. Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the Data and Integration Manager, your responsibilities will include:
• Operational Support: Assisting in the maintenance of database and integration platforms and pipeline architectures.
• System Monitoring: Helping monitor the performance and availability of IT services and technology systems within the domain.
• Documentation: Contributing to the creation and maintenance of support documentation, operational processes, and standards.
• Change Assistance: Supporting the review of system configuration changes to ensure they meet operational requirements.
• Stakeholder Interaction: Liaising with internal IT colleagues and service partners to resolve routine technical issues.
• Project Contribution: Providing basic technical support for project work as assigned by project managers or senior team members.
Essential Criteria
• You are a motivated, collaborative individual with a foundational understanding of data structures and a keen interest in integration technologies.
• Education: Tertiary qualifications in Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field (recently completed or nearing completion), or equivalent foundational experience.
• Technical Knowledge: Basic knowledge or a strong desire to learn in areas such as Python, SQL, API lifecycle stages, and data integration tools (e.g., Apache Airflow).
• Analytical Skills: Sound analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to follow technical instructions and interpret basic requirements.
• Process Awareness: General understanding of core Information Technology functions and IT service delivery processes.
• Communication: Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a diverse team.
• Self-Management: Strong time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
