Salary for the candidate will be determined taking into consideration a number of factors including: experience, skills, qualifications, anticipated contribution to role, internal equity, etc. The salary range presented below is based on a 35-hour workweek and would represent a majority of different candidate profiles. However, we encourage candidates who may fall outside of this range to apply as well.

About the role
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Data Developer to join our Audit team, within the subset team of Data Analytics. This role is pivotal in transforming diverse and complex data sources into clean, validated, and structured datasets that auditors can rely on for deep analysis and insights. You will work closely with audit professionals to understand their data needs and build scalable data marts and models using Power BI and other tools.
This is a temporary position with an 18-month duration.
Hybrid model: in-office presence two days per week.
Key Responsibilities
Data Development
· Design and implement ETL processes to consolidate and clean data from various sources including Snowflake, Databricks, SQL databases, Excel files, SharePoint lists, and unstructured data sources.
· Acquire business context through walkthroughs and stakeholder engagement to ensure audit-relevant data is appropriately understood and used.
· Ensure data models are optimized for performance and usability.
Validation & Quality Assurance
· Validate data outputs against business reports and known benchmarks to ensure accuracy and completeness.
· Implement data quality checks and reconciliation processes.
Governance, Security & Compliance
· Handle sensitive data securely, following internal policies and regulatory standards
· Apply appropriate data protection techniques (e.g. masking, encryption) and manage access controls.
Collaboration & Support
· Work closely with auditors to understand data requirements and provide technical support.
· Document data flows, transformations, and business logic for transparency and auditability.
· Help improve the audit team data literacy by documenting data fields and libraries.
Continuous Improvement
· Identify opportunities to automate and streamline data preparation and update processes.
· Stay current with best practices in data engineering and analytics.
Required Skills & Qualifications
· 2-5 years of experience in data development.
· Strong ETL skills and experience working with relational databases.
· Strong knowledge of SQL and working level knowledge of programming language Python.
· Strong documentation practices, experience working with GitHub and Confluence
· Experience working with structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data sources.
· Understanding of data governance, validation, and reconciliation techniques, as well as good security practices.
· Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
· Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with non-technical stakeholders.
· For candidates located in Quebec, bilingualism is required considering the necessity to interact on a regular basis with English-speaking colleagues across the country.
Desired Qualifications
· Experience in an audit, finance, or compliance environment.
· Insurance industry knowledge.
· Familiarity with audit methodologies and regulatory requirements.
· Building and maintaining BI/MI reporting.
· Knowledge of Power Automate, or other automation tools is a plus.
