About this role

Make a difference everyday

Join HammondCare and help improve quality of life for older Australians in need. As a not-for-profit, Christian organisation, we provide expert aged care, home care, dementia care and palliative care. Mission-led, we build passionate teams who support older people through life’s most difficult circumstances.

With over 90 years of experience, we’re known for our relationship-based approach. Whether it’s in our homes, hospitals or the community, we bring skill, empathy and innovation to every moment of care.

It’s not just care. It’s HammondCare.

About The Role

At HammondCare, data and information are critical to delivering safe, high quality care, maintaining trust with the people we serve, and enabling responsible innovation.

The Data Governance Lead is accountable for leading the design, implementation, and ongoing operation of HammondCare’s enterprise data governance framework, ensuring data and information assets are trusted, high‑quality, secure, compliant, and ethically managed across the organisation.

This role translates HammondCare’s enterprise data and information management strategy into practical, fit‑for‑purpose governance standards, processes, and controls. Working closely with clinical, operational, technology, analytics, privacy, and risk stakeholders, the Data Governance Lead embeds governance into day to day operations, decision making, and change initiatives  enabling teams to use data confidently while meeting regulatory, privacy, and ethical obligations.

This is a hands on leadership role focused on stewardship, clarity, and adoption, ensuring governance enables care, insight, and innovation rather than slowing it down.

This is a permanent full-time role working at St Leonards with hybrid opportunities.

Key Outcomes

• Consistent and embedded enterprise data governance practices across diverse clinical, operational, and corporate environments

• Data that is accessible and usable for care, operations, and insight, while meeting privacy, security, ethical, and regulatory obligations

• Strong organisational adoption of governance standards through influence, collaboration, and clear decision‑making, without reliance on direct line authority

• Improved data quality, ownership, and accountability across multiple systems, platforms, and data sources, reducing risk and rework

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and operate HammondCare’s enterprise data governance framework, including standards, roles, decision rights, and escalation pathways

• Establish and embed data quality management practices across key clinical, operational, and corporate data domains

• Partner with privacy, risk, cyber, and legal teams to ensure compliance with privacy, security, ethical, and regulatory requirements

• Develop governance reporting, metrics, and maturity measures to monitor adoption, identify risks, and drive continuous improvement

About you

• At least 7 year's demonstrated experience in data governance, data quality, or information management within complex, regulated environments

• Tertiary qualifications in Information Management, Data, Analytics, Information Systems, or a related discipline (or equivalent practical experience)

• Strong understanding of data governance frameworks, privacy principles, and information security concepts

• Experience working with data platforms, analytics, and reporting environments to embed governance controls into everyday use

• Proven ability to influence, collaborate, and drive change across multidisciplinary stakeholder groups without direct authority

• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly

• Relevant professional certifications in data governance, privacy, or information management are desirable but not essential
