As a Data Integration Developer, you’ll play a critical role in connecting systems and data that power Whataburger’s operations and digital experiences. Day-to-Day Ingredients — Responsibilities
As a Data Integration Developer, you will:
• Design, develop, and enhance middleware and ETL solutions
• Build and optimize integrations supporting a Service‑Oriented Architecture
• Perform technical analysis, solution design, and performance tuning
• Develop, test, and deploy application and data integration solutions
• Write and execute test scripts for system and integration testing
• Participate in code reviews to ensure quality and standards compliance
• Maintain clear, accurate technical and system documentation
• Resolve production issues and support ongoing application stability
• Collaborate with business and technical partners to translate requirements

What You Bring to the Table — Required Experience
As a Data Integration Developer, you must have:
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant work experience
• 2+ years of experience in data integration or application development
• Strong skills in SQL and database development
• Experience designing and developing ETL or middleware solutions
• Knowledge of integration architectures and technical design principles
• Strong problem‑solving and requirements‑analysis skills
• Attention to detail and commitment to code quality
• Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to partners
Extra Toppings — Desired Experience
As a Data Integration Developer, we prefer you to have:
• Experience with IBM DataStage, ESB, or similar integration platforms
• Exposure to Microsoft and IBM technology environments
• Familiarity with data warehousing concepts
• Scripting or automation experience
• Informatica IICS or other integration‑tool certification
Where & How You’ll Work
This role is based at the San Antonio Home Office, working on‑site Monday through Thursday with remote flexibility on Fridays. In this role, you’ll have strong collaboration with leadership, across cross-functional teams, and with external partners to align capabilities with restaurant realities. The work environment is fast‑paced and requires sound judgment, strategic thinking, and strong collaboration skills. Full‑time availability is required, with occasional extended hours based on business needs, along with occasional travel to properties, project sites, and external meetings. Candidates must reside within commuting distance of the San Antonio Home Office.
