Data Scientist, Fraud Detection Specialist
About this role
Temporary position for 12 months.
As a Data Scientist, Fraud Detection Specialist, you provide the data needed to make business decisions, develop solutions and services adapted to business issues and understand member and client behaviour. You lead practitioners on projects to develop models tailored to business needs in the field of fraud detection. You lead complex, strategic initiatives in advanced analytics and artificial intelligence, and serve as a data use specialist advisor and subject matter expert. Your initiatives require extensive and in-depth knowledge of fraud detection. More specifically, you will be required to:
• Develop and roll out fraud detection and prevention strategies
• Continuously monitor fraud patterns and how well models and strategies are performing
• Research and develop predictive variables to prevent and detect fraud
• Provide advice on projects to improve fraud risk management tools
• Serve as an advisor to the risk management teams and business sectors in your field
• Monitor the industry to understand and anticipate trends in your field in order to develop and update best practices that are relevant to the organization
• Develop, update and produce various reports
• Report on the performance of predictive models and strategies to the various committees, managers and contributors,

What you bring to the table
• Bachelor's degree in a related field
• A minimum of four years of relevant experience
• Please note that other combinations of qualifications and relevant experience may be considered
• Experience developing and implementing advanced analytics or predictive solutions
• Experience in analytics with transactional data
• Experience working with cloud platforms such as CP4D or Microsoft Azure
• Experience in Apache Spark (via PySpark or Scala, knowledge of Databricks)
• Knowledge of French is required
• Advanced proficiency in resolving complex, multi‑constraint problems
• Proficiency in Python or R programming
• Proficiency in data science methodologies and their limitations (scikit-learn, pandas, Matplotlib, NumPy, SciPy, etc.)
