Job Summary:
The Data Scientist II supports the Information Services department by performing advanced data analysis, developing and training machine learning models, and building data-driven applications. This role partners with cross‑functional teams to translate business needs into scalable data solutions and contributes to the ongoing evolution of the organization’s data environment.

Duties/Responsibilities:
• Leads data science, data warehouse architecture, data modeling, and other team projects.
• Trains a variety of machine learning models.
• Researches algorithms and models and apply them to ongoing projects.
• Handles multiple projects concurrently and engages in project management.
• Gathers business requirements and works all phases of the project lifecycle.
• Translates business requests into data science projects.
• Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to move projects from concept to production.
• Develops SQL queries to be used by the data warehouse and/or other relational databases.
• Assists with ETL changes and development.
• Performs complex data analysis by leveraging statistical techniques.
• Examines data to identify trends, outliers, spikes, and noise.
• Uses general programming (Python, etc.) to perform data analysis and data science.
• Provides support for production and development applications.
• Mentors junior team members and contributes to knowledge‑sharing within the team.
• Attends and participates in team meetings, training sessions, and company-sponsored programs.
• Responds to all emails and calls within a reasonable amount of time.
• Keep current with the latest developments in data analytics and data science.
• Other assignments and duties as assigned by management.
Required Skills/Abilities:
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail and able to independently work on projects.
• Reads, analyzes, and interprets technical journals and financial reports.
• Effectively presents information to top management.
• Applies concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations and works with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
• Applies principles of logical or scientific thinking to practical problems and deals with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
• Utilizes strong multi-tasking, organizational, prioritization, and follow-up skills necessary for managing multiple systems issues and projects at one time in a team environment.
• Must have a current driver’s license and auto liability insurance.
Education/Experience
• Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university or two to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum of two years of data science experience (additional education may substitute for experience).
• Experience with general programming languages (Python preferred).
• Experience querying datasets using SQL.
• Experience with GCP Looker, IBM Cognos, or similar reporting applications preferred.
• Experience working with large datasets (3–4 TB) preferred.
• Strong technical knowledge of SQL required.
• Certifications in data analytics or data science preferred.
Physical Requirements
• Prolonged periods of sitting and working at a computer.
• Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 10 lbs; occasionally up to 25 lbs.
• Close vision required for computer work.
• Standard office hours apply, with occasional weekends or holidays as needed.
• Must be regularly available and willing to work 40–45 hours per week or as required to meet business needs.
• Work environment noise level is typically moderate.
