Your day at NTT DATA

The Director of AI in Business Operations is responsible for leading the “AI Inside” transformation of the organization—embedding AI into core business operations to drive productivity, efficiency, and new value creation. This role focuses on moving beyond isolated AI use cases toward scaled adoption and enterprise-wide transformation.

The Director will bridge business strategy, data, and technology to operationalize AI across functions, leveraging centralized platforms, governance, and reusable capabilities to ensure consistent, scalable impact across the enterprise.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

• Define and execute the organization’s AI strategy for business operations, aligned to enterprise transformation goals
• Partner with executive leadership and Tower Leaders to identify high-value, priority AI opportunities
• Translate strategic priorities into a structured pipeline of AI initiatives tied to measurable business outcomes
• Establish and lead an AI use case portfolio, prioritizing initiatives based on value, feasibility, and scalability
• Drive alignment between business units, global functions, and central AI strategy to ensure “one company” execution
• Establish governance frameworks for responsible, secure, and compliant AI usage across the organization

Operational Transformation

• Lead the shift from AI adoption (task automation) to AI-driven transformation (end-to-end process and value chain reinvention)
• Identify, assess, and prioritize AI use cases across operations using structured evaluation criteria (ROI, effort, scalability, risk)
• Drive implementation of high-impact use cases (e.g., automation, AI assistants, intelligent workflows) that deliver measurable productivity gains
• Establish repeatable frameworks for scaling AI solutions across functions and regions
• Reengineer workflows and operating models to leverage AI agents, automation, and intelligent systems
• Oversee end-to-end lifecycle of AI initiatives—from ideation and intake through build, deployment, and value realization

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Partner with business units, global functions, and Tower Leaders to identify, prioritize, and scale AI use cases
• Act as a connector between central AI CoE, platform teams, and local business stakeholders to ensure alignment and execution
• Facilitate intake, assessment, and prioritization processes for AI initiatives across the organization
• Collaborate with data, engineering, and platform teams to leverage shared tools, platforms, and reusable assets
• Support feedback loops between local teams and central strategy to continuously refine AI roadmap and capabilities
• Build strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to accelerate AI adoption and transformation

Performance & Analytics

• Define KPIs to measure AI adoption, productivity gains, and business impact (e.g., time saved, effort reduction, revenue uplift)
• Track and report ROI across AI initiatives, including efficiency gains, cycle time reduction, and cost savings
• Monitor progress from deployment to true adoption, ensuring sustained usage and measurable outcomes
• Establish dashboards and reporting mechanisms to track AI portfolio performance
• Ensure data quality, accessibility, and governance to enable scalable AI solutions

AI Adoption Leadership

• Drive upskilling, training, and AI literacy across business and operational teams
• Foster a culture of innovation, experimentation, and continuous improvement
• Mentor leaders and promote AI adoption across functions and regions

Risk, Governance & Compliance

• Implement AI governance frameworks covering risk, compliance, security, and ethical AI usage
• Ensure alignment with enterprise-wide AI policies, platforms, and control mechanisms
• Mitigate risks related to model bias, data privacy, and system reliability
• Support centralized oversight of AI usage, including monitoring, reporting, and auditability

Qualifications

Experience

• 10+ years of experience in business operations, strategy, or digital transformation
• 5+ years of experience leading AI, analytics, or automation initiatives
• Proven track record of delivering large-scale transformation programs

Skills

• Strong understanding of AI/ML concepts and their business applications
• Expertise in process optimization and operational excellence methodologies
• Excellent stakeholder management and executive communication skills
• Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field (MBA or advanced degree preferred)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with generative AI and large language models
• Familiarity with data platforms and cloud technologies
• Background in consulting or high-growth environments

Success Metrics

• Measurable cost savings and efficiency gains (e.g., 10–30% efficiency improvement in targeted processes)
• Reduction in manual effort and cycle times across key operational workflows
• Adoption rates and active usage of AI solutions across business units
• Number and scalability of deployed AI use cases and reusable assets
• Revenue impact and contribution from AI-enabled initiatives
• Speed of AI use case intake, prioritization, and deployment
