Job Summary
We are seeking an Executive Director, Data Platforms to lead the strategy, architecture, and execution of our data infrastructure. This role is responsible for building and operating scalable, reliable, and secure data platforms that power analytics, machine learning, and data-driven decision-making across the organization.
You will partner closely with data engineering, analytics, product, and business teams to ensure our data ecosystem enables speed, trust, and innovation.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities
Platform Strategy & Vision
• Define and execute the long-term vision for the company’s data platform, aligned with business goals.
• Establish standards, principles, and roadmaps for data infrastructure, tooling, and architecture.
• Drive adoption of modern data platform practices (e.g., cloud-native, lakehouse, data mesh where appropriate).
Architecture & Engineering Leadership
• Oversee the design and evolution of scalable data pipelines, storage systems, and compute platforms.
• Ensure high availability, performance, cost efficiency, and security of data systems.
• Lead decisions on tooling and frameworks (e.g., orchestration, ingestion, transformation, observability).
Data Reliability & Governance
• Establish robust data quality, lineage, and observability practices.
• Partner with governance, security, and compliance teams to ensure proper data controls.
• Promote “data as a product” thinking with clear ownership and SLAs.
Data Egress & Consumption Enablement
• Design and operate a scalable data egress layer that enables governed, performant access to data for downstream consumption tools such as Looker, Tableau, and other BI/analytics platforms.
• Define standardized patterns for data access (e.g., semantic layers, curated data marts, APIs, query engines) to ensure consistency and usability across business units.
• Ensure high-performance query capabilities and workload management to support enterprise-scale BI usage.
• Partner with analytics and business teams to optimize data models and delivery mechanisms for self-service analytics.
• Enforce governance, security, and access controls at the point of consumption, ensuring compliance with enterprise data policies.
• Drive adoption of certified datasets and semantic definitions to reduce duplication and improve trust in reporting.
Team Leadership & Development
• Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing team of data platform and infrastructure engineers.
• Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Define roles, career paths, and hiring strategies for platform teams.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Partner with analytics, data science, and product teams to understand requirements and remove friction.
• Work with DevOps and cloud teams to align infrastructure strategy.
• Act as a key advisor to senior leadership on data platform capabilities and trade-offs.
Operational Excellence
• Implement best practices for CI/CD, infrastructure as code, and platform automation.
• Monitor and optimize system performance, reliability, and cost.
• Define and track KPIs for platform health and adoption.
Qualifications
Experience
• 10+ years in data engineering, platform engineering, or related fields.
• 5+ years in leadership roles managing engineering teams.
• Proven experience building and scaling modern data platforms in cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
Technical Expertise
• Deep knowledge of data architectures (data lakes, warehouses, lakehouse patterns).
• Experience with distributed processing frameworks (e.g., Spark, Flink).
• Strong understanding of data orchestration (e.g., Airflow, Dagster), storage, and streaming systems.
• Familiarity with data observability, quality, and governance tools.
Leadership & Influence
• Strong ability to set vision and drive execution across multiple teams.
• Experience influencing senior stakeholders and aligning cross-functional priorities.
• Track record of building teams and developing engineering talent.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience implementing data mesh or domain-oriented data ownership models.
• Background in supporting ML platforms or real-time data use cases.
• Experience in high-growth or large-scale enterprise environments.

Compensation
Primary Location Pay Range: $218,361.45 - $327,542.18
Comcast intends to offer the selected candidate base pay within this range, dependent on job-related, non-discriminatory factors such as experience. The application window is 30 days from the date job is posted, unless the number of applicants requires it to close sooner or later.
Base pay is one part of the Total Rewards that Comcast provides to compensate and recognize employees for their work. Most sales positions are eligible for a Commission under the terms of an applicable plan, while most non-sales positions are eligible for a Bonus.
