At Fidelity, we combine fundamental research on debt issuers with macroeconomic and quantitative analysis to develop investment decisions that aim to maximize risk-adjusted total return for our clients. We manage money market funds with an emphasis on preservation of capital, liquidity, and competitive returns commensurate with the maintenance of minimal credit risk standards. The Fixed Income division is headquartered in Merrimack, New Hampshire.
The Role
Reporting to the Managing Director of Research, Municipals, the structured municipal research analyst will be a significant contributor to the investment process surrounding Fidelity’s market-leading municipal money market funds. The analyst will work closely with other members of the municipal structured team to review tender option bond trusts, variable rate demand notes, pre-refunded securities, tax-exempt commercial paper, and other securities offered in the short-term municipal market. The analyst will also work with counterparties to understand and evaluate new proposed structures for adherence to regulatory requirements and Fidelity’s standards for money market securities. The role involves collaborating closely with members of the municipal fundamental credit research team, the financials research team, traders, and portfolio managers. Attention to detail, comfort with reviewing complex documents, and ability to engage with business partners to advocate for the interests of Fidelity fund shareholders are all essential to success in this role.

• Experience of 3+ years in a legal or financial services role
• Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment

• Ability and willingness to make decisions and recommendations on a regular basis
• Self-motivated and intellectually curious; actively seeks additional responsibilities and learning opportunities, and is able to formulate independent strategies to gather relevant facts and data to inform recommendations and conclusions
• Familiarity with SEC rule 2a-7 is a plus but not required
