Full-Stack Software Engineer - Factory Operating Sysytem
About this role
Full-Stack Software Engineer – Factory Operating System
Compensation: Competitive base + meaningful equity
Location: El Segundo, CA
Work Policy: On-site
Work Authorization: U.S. Person required due to ITAR
Team: Second software engineering hire
Who are we?
Rangeview is building the foundry system that will reindustrialize America.
We design and operate advanced investment casting systems for aerospace, defense, and energy applications by combining automation, software-driven process control, materials science, and hands-on foundry execution.
We are reinventing how critical metal parts are made by modernizing legacy manufacturing environments and building a factory that can scale with safety, precision, and speed.
What’s in it for you?
This is a rare chance to be the second software engineer on a team building the software layer that runs a real factory.
You will help build Rangeview’s Factory Operating System: the internal platform that connects production workflows, part tracking, quality traceability, telemetry, equipment integrations, and real-time factory operations.
This is not a narrow web app role; you will work across frontend, backend, infrastructure, data modeling, observability, telemetry, and occasionally embedded or hardware-adjacent systems. Your work will directly affect how aerospace hardware moves through the factory floor.
You’ll have high ownership, low bureaucracy, and the chance to shape systems that matter in the physical world.
What will you do?
• Architect, build, and maintain Rangeview's Factory Operating System across the full stack: frontend (TypeScript, React, MUI) and backend (ASP.NET, Entity Framework, Hot Chocolate, PostgreSQL)
• Build systems for part tracking, quality traceability, telemetry, and real-time factory operations
• Design performant GraphQL APIs and relational database schemas for complex manufacturing workflows
• Instrument manufacturing systems with logging, metrics, tracing, alerting, and observability
• Occasionally write embedded software and attach microcontrollers to integrate factory-floor equipment with the Factory Operating System, working closely with mechanical and mechatronics engineers
• Build quick, high-leverage internal tools that remove friction for operators, engineers, and the rest of the team
• Develop scheduling and optimization systems for production workflows (OR-Tools)
What will you need?
• Strong full-stack software engineering fundamentals
• Experience with a strongly typed backend language (C#, Java, Go, Rust, or similar)
• Experience with React + TypeScript
• Fluent use of AI coding tools as part of your daily workflow, paired with the judgment to own the engineering decisions behind what they produce
• Comfort moving across frontend, backend, infrastructure, and hardware-adjacent work
• High ownership and autonomy once a module or problem is defined
• Strong data modeling judgment for messy, real-world operational systems
• A reliability-first mindset where correctness matters from the beginning
• Strong engineering judgment over narrow tool familiarity
• Interest in building systems that connect software to real-world operations
Multipliers
• MES or ERP software experience
• Manufacturing, aerospace, industrial automation, or regulated domain experience
• Familiarity with CQRS or Domain-Driven Design
• Experience with time-series databases, real-time data processing, or production observability
• Experience with embedded systems, industrial protocols, IoT devices, or telemetry systems
• Experience standing up and operating on-prem infrastructure
