Full Stack Software Engineer III

This is a hybrid role where office attendance in Denver is expected 2 days per week (Tuesday and Thursday). A $100 monthly transportation/parking stipend is provided.

About the Opportunity

Contentful is looking for a Software Engineer to join our Ecosystem product line with a primary focus on Marketplace. In this role, you will help build, maintain, and grow the systems, apps, and workflows that expand what customers can do with Contentful.

You will work across the Marketplace surface area and adjacent ecosystem tooling, helping us deliver high-impact apps, improve the contribution and review pipeline, and scale the ways internal and external developers build on top of Contentful. While Marketplace is the primary focus, this role should also be able to contribute across adjacent Ecosystem areas, such as Extensibility and Developer Experience, when priorities call for it.

This role is ideal for an engineer who is strong in front-end product work but not limited to it: someone who is comfortable moving between React surfaces, Node.js services, APIs, developer tooling, and production operations as needed. We are looking for a product-minded full-stack engineer who enjoys strong cross-functional collaboration and taking growing ownership of software through its full lifecycle in production.

We are also evolving how we build software. We increasingly use AI-assisted development workflows to accelerate delivery, reduce menial workload, and improve leverage across the software development lifecycle. We are looking for an engineer who is genuinely excited to experiment with these tools — not just adopt them passively, but bring strong engineering instincts to getting the most out of them.

What to expect?

• Design, build, and maintain Marketplace features, apps, and supporting services that improve the experience for both app builders and app installers.

• Contribute to the systems and tooling that help Contentful teams and partners bring new apps and integrations to market faster.

• Contribute across adjacent Ecosystem problem spaces, including extensibility workflows, developer tooling, internal platform capabilities, and backend services that support developers building on Contentful.

• Improve contribution workflows, trust and safety checks, maintainability, and operational quality across Marketplace and ecosystem surfaces.

• Partner closely with product, design, and engineers across Ecosystem to shape solutions that solve meaningful customer and business problems.

• Help generalize, polish, and productionize internally-built apps and ecosystem contributions so they can be supported long term by Marketplace Engineering.

• Own software in production, including debugging issues, improving observability, strengthening reliability, and participating in support and operational responsibilities.

• Use AI-assisted workflows across planning, implementation, debugging, and documentation where they create real leverage.

• Help the team improve how we use AI in engineering by sharing practices, refining workflows, and contributing to a healthy engineering culture around quality and speed.

What you need to be successful

• Roughly 4-7 years of relevant software engineering experience

• Solid professional software engineering experience building and maintaining production systems.

• Strong experience with TypeScript and Node.js, plus solid experience building user-facing product surfaces in React or similar front-end frameworks.

• Clear strength in front-end engineering, paired with real comfort contributing to backend services, APIs, and developer-facing tooling rather than working exclusively in the UI layer.

• Experience designing and evolving APIs, integrations, and services used by other engineers, partners, or customers.

• Good judgment around reliability, maintainability, security, and technical tradeoffs in a product environment.

• Comfort working across the stack and across boundaries, from user experience to backend behavior to operational concerns.

• Strong communication and collaboration skills, including experience working cross-functionally and asynchronously across teams and time zones.

• A product mindset and real empathy for developers, partners, and customers.

• Practical experience using AI tools to improve engineering productivity, with the ability to evaluate outputs critically and maintain a high quality bar.

Nice to Have

• Experience with developer platforms, SDKs, app frameworks, marketplaces, extensibility products, or integration ecosystems.

• Experience with AWS, Terraform, Kubernetes, Cloudflare, or related cloud infrastructure.

• Experience maintaining or contributing to public or shared developer tooling.

• Familiarity with AI-native product surfaces, agentic workflows, or systems that connect software to external tools and services.

Salary Statement: The salary range displayed is specifically for potential hires who will work or reside in Colorado if selected for the role. Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data/ranges, the applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, and certain degrees and certifications (e.g., JD/technology).

Salary Range: 136,000 - 184,000 [This position is eligible for equity awards in accordance with the terms of Contentful’s equity plans.]
