Department Profile

The Institutional Securities Group (ISG) has established an ISG Data Group (IDG) to provide a single point of accountability for the full spectrum of data-related initiatives. This ranges from the defensive, risk-reduction aspects of data security (both internal and external), through improving data quality to help drive revenue by further leveraging our data assets to provide services to our clients.

Position Description:

The position available is an Associate-level role within IDG.  This team is responsible for project build-out and execution focused on problem-solving, strategic enablement, and cross-functional, data-related initiatives within ISG, as well as managing BAU controls across onshore and offshore teams. Areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to, access management, client data protection, data governance, and other related activities. The individual will be required to work with senior members across the ISG businesses and associated Firm functions, such as the Operational Risk Division (ORD), Compliance, the Firmwide Data Office (FDO), and Technology.  The individual will be responsible for driving aspects of ISG’s data governance strategy, while ensuring compliance with applicable rules and regulations governing the Firm, as well as adherence to internal standards, controls, and policies.

Responsibilities Include:

• Helping define and drive the strategic framework for cross-functional, data-related initiatives within ISG Asia, including overall governance, client strategy, and internal and external data solutions and platforms.
• Collaborating with the ISG Business Control Units (BCUs), ISG technology leads and desk heads, TOR, and the FDO to define ISG requirements, execute program initiatives, and implement key controls.
• Leading the implementation of data-related initiatives, including business process and control reviews, while managing onshore and offshore IDG teams.
• Creating processes and tools for risk identification and measurement across ISG’s data priorities, including the definition of KRIs, KPIs, escalation thresholds, and reporting mechanisms.
• Improving and monitoring existing data-related control frameworks and/or creating new control frameworks if none exist.
• Identifying opportunities for process efficiencies and implementing corresponding solutions within the team as well as teams outside IDG.
• Supporting the onshore and offshore teams responsible for BAU controls for Identity and Access Management, Data Loss Prevention, Data Entitlements, and Data Controls, while identifying opportunities to improve information security controls.
• Assisting the ISG Business Unit Information Security Officer in managing in-scope Risk Acceptance processes.
• Maintaining relationships and working closely with IDG supervisors, Business Control Units, the Firmwide Data Office, Technology, Legal, and Compliance.

Experience / Skills Required:

• 5+ years of experience in financial services
• Proven experience in shaping and delivering strategic initiatives that drive business impact.
• Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify risks, mitigate challenges, and drive resolution.
• Strong project management skills and proven ability to move projects through to completion, ideally within a finance/markets setting.
• Team player who can effectively collaborate across diverse teams.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate objectives, requirements, risks, and issues, and to interact effectively with senior management and clients.
• Self-starter with strong motivation, a positive outlook, and a desire to solve problems, with the ability to work independently with minimal guidance.
• Strong analytical skills, with the ability to understand complex workflows and leverage Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Visio.
• Ability to identify and escalate issues effectively and appropriately.
• Exceptional organizational skills and a high degree of attention to detail.
• Ability to discuss technology initiatives in depth and to work closely with technology teams.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks effectively, and to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• Proven ability to take ideas forward and to challenge others with integrity and maturity.
