The Internal Audit Department is an independent and objective assurance and consulting activity that is guided by a philosophy of adding value to improve the operations of the Bank. It assists the Bank in accomplishing its objectives by bringing a systematic and disciplined approach to evaluating and improving the effectiveness of the Bank’s governance, risk management and internal control environment. The Internal Audit Department will adhere to the Institute of Internal Auditors’ mandatory guidance which includes the Core Principles for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing, the Definition of Internal Auditing, the Code of Ethics and the International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing (collectively, the Standards). The Internal Audit Senior Manager – IT and Data Analytics will support the Internal Audit Department’s goals and objectives as described above. Candidates should exhibit the essential qualities and possess the minimum knowledge, skills and abilities described below.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities
• Providing deep thinking and content on key Bank issues and risks;
• Supervising and executing individual audits efficiently and effectively;
• Leading audit planning, kick-off, concluding and observation meetings with the audit leadership team and the audit clients.
• Monitoring and being accountable for key performance indicators for individual audits managed;
• Working with the Audit Leadership Team to achieve and sustain superior overall performance;
• Participating actively in risk meetings and bringing results of those meetings to the audit teams for discussion.
• Overseeing the development and deployment of data analytics techniques to identify and assess risks and opportunities, as well as provide insights and recommendations to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of the audit process;
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Needed to Perform Essential Functions of the Job
• Bachelor’s degree required with a preference in information systems, data analytics, infomatics, accounting or finance. Other applicable areas of study would be considered;
• CPA, CISA, CIA or some other professional certification in the related field;
• Ability to work with little or no supervision on projects;
• Eight (8) plus years of experience in internal audit, external audit, banking, or risk management/compliance;
• Five (5) plus years using Computer Assisted Audit Techniques (CAAT) software (e.g. ACL, IDEA, Arbutus);
• Excellent written and oral communication skills required;
• Demonstrates leadership, coaching and project management skills;
• Ability to work within a team environment and maintain professional composure in a dynamic work environment that often requires management/completion of multiple tasks;
• Must be able to adjust to multiple demands, shifting priorities and rapid change;
• Must be results and goal oriented, possess sound judgment and ability to apply logical/critical thought processes when developing business solutions;
• Demonstrates ability to display a positive business presence and sound judgment with management and external parties;
• Must be able to maintain independence and objectivity in all aspects of the position.
Preferred Knowledge and Skills
• Thorough knowledge of bank policies, procedures and practices, preferred;
• Well-rounded knowledge of internal controls and risk-based concepts, preferred;
• Knowledge of TeamMate audit software, preferred.
Level of Complexity and Scope
• High level of complexity using considerable judgment and ability to work independently.
Degree of Independence and Decision-Making
• Must have the ability to work with little or no supervision on all work.
Required Supervisory Responsibilities
• May be asked to mentor and build team of data analytic professionals.
• Will work with other audit teams to build analytic functions for audit assurance.
Physical Requirements
• Occasionally lifts and carries up to 20 lbs;
• Frequently lifts and carries up to 10 lbs;
• Occasionally drives;
• Frequently sits, stands and walks.
Compliance Statement
The associate is responsible for meeting all compliance requirements imposed on First Financial Bank by State and Federal law and regulation, as well as all related First Financial Bank policies and procedures. This includes all Bank Secrecy Act, Anti-Money Laundering, OFAC and Suspicious Activity reporting requirements, as well as all other lending and deposit compliance requirements.
Development and Training
Pay Range:
$130,000/year to $155,000/year
