Northrop Grumman Marine Systems specializes in the analysis, development, manufacture, assembly and testing of missile launching and handling systems, propulsion, and power generation systems for naval surface ships and submarines. We are seeking a LabVIEW Systems Engineer Level 2 based out of Sunnyvale, CA.
Candidate will support development, automation, integration, and long-term sustainment of engineering test and data acquisition systems. Responsibilities include supporting laboratory and test operations, assisting with software and hardware integration activities, troubleshooting acquisition issues, and working with senior engineers to support modernization efforts for engineering test infrastructure.
The role will involve close interaction with test engineers, software developers, and hardware teams in laboratory and test environments. Candidates with strong hands-on engineering backgrounds and interest in automation, instrumentation, and software integration are encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop and maintain LabVIEW software modules for multi-channel data acquisition, signal processing, and visualization
• Implement and troubleshoot synchronized data acquisition systems, including timing and coordination across multiple data sources
• Support development of continuous acquisition systems capable of recording and processing data without interruption
• Integrate NI hardware (PXI / DAQ ) with LabVIEW applications
• Implement software functionality based on defined architecture and system requirements
• Develop analysis, visualization, and diagnostic tools using MATLAB and Python, as needed.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across engineering, test, and manufacturing.
• Contribute to documentation, version control, and modern software development best practices.
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related STEM discipline with 2 years of relevant experience; Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related STEM discipline with no experience
• Hands-on laboratory or test environment experience
• Experience supporting hardware bring-up, instrumentation, or test activities
• Experience with software development lab environments
• Exposure to LabVIEW, test automation, or data acquisition systems
• Experience working with engineering data, measurements, sensors, or instrumentation
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• US Citizenship required
• Ability to obtain and maintain Secret Clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with test automation and hardware integration
• Experience with multi-channel data acquisition systems
• Experience with synchronization / timing
• Experience with continuous acquisition
• Experience with Python or MATLAB
• Familiarity with NI hardware, instrumentation, or sensor integration
• Exposure to signal processing, data visualization, or engineering analysis workflows
Primary Level Salary Range: $91,800.00 - $137,600.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
