Our Student Shared Services team is advancing its data, reporting, and insights function to keep pace with rising expectations for timely, efficient and high-quality analytics capability. We are hiring a strategic Senior Level Data Analyst who can lead, collaborate, and influence key stakeholders as well as drive continuous improvement, and build on our analytics capability.
Within this role, you will be adept at translating operational challenges into clear analytical questions, bringing together and validating data from enabling services and systems. You will also play a key role in strengthening accountability for Student Shared Service’s data assets, metrics, and reporting.

About the role
This role reports into our Executive Director, Student Shared Services. As a Lead Data Analyst, your key responsibilities would include:
• Lead, collaborate and influence key stakeholders across Student Shared Services to define analytical needs and drive delivery of priority insights and reporting outcomes.
• Provide functional and technical guidance, subject matter expertise and specialist support for data analytics to enable evidence-based decision-making and improve service performance.
• Lead requirements analysis, build/configuration, testing, change management/training, monitoring and ongoing improvement for analytics products and platforms.
• Integrate and validate data from multiple Student Shared Services systems and enabling platforms to generate actionable insights.
• Deliver root-cause analysis and service improvement analytics that directly support University commitments and remediation priorities.
• Drive continuous improvement and documentation of processes, standards and procedures, mitigating the likelihood and severity of service issues.
• Coach and share knowledge to build analytics capability across the portfolio, including collaboration with stakeholders and leadership.
• Assess and plan for availability, performance and capacity of analytics services and resources to meet current and future needs.
• Build and maintain collaborative relationships with stakeholders, executives and working groups.

Student Shared Services is a key operational function within Macquarie University's professional services, responsible for delivering consistent, high-quality administrative support to students across their lifecycle. The team is committed to continuous improvement, service excellence, and leveraging data to understand and resolve the issues that matter most to students. The Data, Reporting and Insights capability within Student Shared Services is being strengthened to ensure analytics is embedded at the heart of service delivery and decision-making.
About You (Selection Criteria)
You are an experienced analytics professional who can work independently and at pace, someone who partners with operational leaders, asks the right questions, and delivers insights that lead to measurable improvement.
• Tertiary qualifications in Data and Analytics, Data Science, Business or Statistics (or equivalent knowledge, skills and experience) with demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development.
• Demonstrated experience leading or driving the delivery of data analytics to support organisational strategic objectives, ideally in a service delivery or shared services environment.
• Strong analytics expertise spanning data engineering, descriptive analytics/business intelligence, statistical analysis and Data modelling.
• Demonstrated capability in performing complex analysis across datasets to facilitate evidence-based decision-making.
• Experience providing technical guidance for complex data and/or integration solutions in multi-stakeholder environments.
• Demonstrated knowledge of Alteryx, Python, R, SQL, AWS, and Power BI.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage senior stakeholders and present effectively to audiences with varying levels of analytical understanding.
