About this role
This position is based out of our corporate office (address is 1635 W. Michigan St., Indianapolis, IN 46222) and at other sites as needed, so candidates will need to live close to or around the Indianapolis area. The general range for this position is $22-$26/hr. and includes full benefits (below):
The Learning and Development Specialist focuses on enhancing employees’ knowledge and skills by creating, delivering, and supporting effective learning experiences. This role manages the Learning Management System (LMS), designs digital and blended courses, facilitates learning content, and models a passion for continuous learning and a strong commitment to developing others.
The Specialist assists the Learning and Development team in achieving team goals aligned with Goodwill’s Strategic Plan and provides support for enterprise-wide learning initiatives, including leadership development, onboarding, compliance, and cross-functional learning programs. This position reports to the Director, Learning and Development.
Example Duties and Activities
• Delivers blended learning content through various modalities, such as in-person workshops, webinars, and virtual sessions. Ensures that courses are accessible and inclusive for all learners.
• Facilitates discussions, activities, and assessments to enhance comprehension and retention.
• Collects and analyzes feedback to continuously improve course delivery.
• Facilitates New Professional Orientation (NPO) and New Manager Orientation (NMO).
• Leads leadership development programs including entry-level leadership, nomination-based series, and coaching workshops.
• Designs and facilitates the Facilitator Bootcamp, developing a scalable leader-as-trainer network across regions.
• Develops or co-develops learning materials, facilitator guides, slide decks, microlearning content, and toolkits.
• Collaborates with the Manager to ensure design quality aligns with enterprise standards.
• Supports onboarding consultations with hiring managers and Recruiting.
• Coordinates custom learning solutions meetings and program logistics.
• Facilitates core programs across sites and contributes to program innovation.
• Tracks learning outcomes and prepares reports aligned with Manager and data team dashboards.
• Oversees the administration and maintenance of the LMS.
• Ensures the LMS is up-to-date, user-friendly, and aligned with organizational needs.
• Troubleshoots technical issues related to the LMS and provides user support as needed in partnership with the HRIS team.
• Collaborates with subject matter experts (SMEs) to analyze learning needs and objectives.
• Acts as a consultant to present learning solutions in areas such as course outline, delivery, assessments, and learning approaches using adult learning principles. Designs and develops digital and blended courses, including curriculum, materials, and assessments.

• Program Management (Training) - Skilled at developing, implementing, organizing, monitoring, and evaluating virtual, blended, and in-person learning programs. Proficient in instructional design principles, and creation of digital/blended learning materials, including eLearning modules, videos, facilitator guides, and toolkits..
• Building Collaborative Relationships - Develops, maintains, and strengthens partnerships at all levels with others inside or outside the organization who can provide information, assistance, and support. Is able to receive as well as provide feedback to improve performance or processes; builds and maintains customer satisfaction and is adept at vendor negotiation.
• Training Facilitation - Experienced in facilitating learning sessions and leadership programs, engaging learners, and creating inclusive learning environments.Possesses proven facilitation skills to engage learners, encourage participation, and create an inclusive learning environment. Instructs, coaches, and mentors participants using appropriate training methodologies and motivational techniques to improve performance after the completion of the learning program.
• Technical Knowledge - Proficient in LMS administration, course assignment, reporting, and troubleshooting (Workday Learning preferred) Skilled in MS Office, G Suite, LMS platforms, and digital learning tools. .Has proficient knowledge of MS Office and Internet navigation. G Suite experience is a plus. Strong knowledge of learning management systems, specifically Workday Learning, and the ability to manage and troubleshoot system issues.

• Background Screening - All candidates must pass a pre-employment background check. Must have a valid driver’s license, up-to-date auto insurance, and a good driving record.
