ABOUT THE JOB
The Learning Experience Designer is responsible for designing and developing engaging, effective learning products and solutions that build teammate capability, drive performance, and support the delivery of excellent patient care.
This role is part of the Corporate Learning team and works in close partnership with Clinical Education, Performance & Engagement, and operational leaders across the organization to ensure learning solutions are aligned with business priorities and clinical excellence.
In this role, the designer owns one or more dedicated learning tracks serving business and/or clinical audiences and manages those tracks from needs assessment through launch and ongoing maintenance. The role also contributes to the standards, governance, and program structure that ensure learning is consistent, scalable, and impactful across the organization through Marathon Health University, our enterprise learning ecosystem.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Learning Design & Development
• Design and develop a best-in-class range of learning products and solutions, including eLearning, instructor-led programs, virtual training, team and cohort-based learning, job aids, toolkits, playbooks, infographics, and instructional videos.
• Apply instructional design and adult learning principles to determine the most effective approach for each learning need.
• Research, curate, and map learning content from internal and external sources to skill gaps and program objectives, selecting resources that are relevant, credible, appropriately sequenced, and aligned to organizational context and strategy.
• Produce polished, on-brand learning content using tools such as Articulate 360 (Rise and Storyline), PowerPoint, Canva, Synthesia, and other development tools while ensuring alignment with Marathon Health brand and communication standards.
• Storyboard and prototype learning solutions with clear instructional flow, incorporating stakeholder and learner feedback prior to launch.
• Design learning that reflects the realities of the work environment—including the pace, constraints, and priorities of clinical and business teammates—to ensure content is relevant and immediately applicable.
• Develop assessments, knowledge checks, reinforcement strategies that support learning retention and connect performance outcomes.
• Maintain and update learning content using an established review cycle including supporting materials such as course communications, promotional materials, marketing assets, and stakeholder presentations.
Performance Consulting & Learning Enablement
• Participate in the learning request intake process by helping scope requests, clarify performance needs, and communicating timelines and prioritized production schedules.
• Partner with stakeholders, People Partners, and operational leaders to define behavioral and business success measures at the start of training projects or learning initiatives.
• Collaborate with subject matter experts and field leaders across clinical and business teams to ensure learning reflects how work is performed.
• Equip managers and facilitators with practical tools to support teammate development, including train-the-trainer sessions, facilitation guides, and delivery toolkits.
• Align learning initiatives with broader talent and capability frameworks and strategies to support teammate growth and organizational performance.
Technology, AI & Continuous Innovation
• Leverage approved AI-enabled tools and emerging technologies to improve design efficiency, enhance learner experience, and accelerate development timelines.
• Evaluate new learning technologies thoughtfully before recommending broader adoption.
Project Management & Evaluation
• Manage learning projects from scoping through launch, maintaining timelines, communicating progress, and coordinating with cross-functional partners.
• Package and deploy learning through the LMS/LXP in partnership with the LMS Administrator; monitor engagement and address barriers to participation.
• Maintain content version control, documentation, and governance standards to ensure consistency and scalability.
• Define measurable learning objectives and apply evaluation methods to assess and monitor effectiveness.
• Use learner feedback and performance data to drive continuous improvement and support reporting on learning impact.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Adult Education, Organizational Development, Communications, or a related field, Masters preferred; 5+ years of instructional design and eLearning development experience with a demonstrated ability to create high-quality learning that supports measurable performance outcomes. Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office 365, Canva, and Articulate 360 course authoring software (Rise and Storyline); Advanced PowerPoint expertise required. Demonstrated experience applying organizational brand and visual identity standards across learning content, communication/marketing assets, and LMS/LXP graphics.
DESIRED ATTRIBUTES
• Experienced instructional designer with a strong portfolio demonstrating range across content formats, audiences, and subject areas – brings creative instincts, a solutions-focused mindset, and a high bar for visual quality to every project.
• Working knowledge of rapid instructional design methodologies including SAM, Agile, Action Mapping, and other adult learning principles; selects the right approach based on the performance challenge and audience.
• Practical experience designing leadership development programs across the full leadership continuum, with the ability to sequence content, select appropriate modalities, and align program structure to each leader level.
• Practical consulting mindset; listens before designing, asks thoughtful questions, and communicates recommendations and options clearly to non–learning audiences.
• Demonstrated ability to manage projects independently and collaborate effectively with subject matter experts and business stakeholders.
• Uses data and learner feedback to make practical improvements over time and consistently delivers high-quality work.
• Experience with Microsoft SharePoint for content management, page layout and design, editing and publishing.
• Collaborative working style with the ability to build trust and strong relationships across clinical and operational teams.
• Comfortable and curious with a growing design and technology toolkit, including AI-enabled authoring tools (Copilot, Claude, Synthesia, etc.) and emerging learning technologies.
Pay Range: $65,000 - $95,000/yr
