Lecturer (Language)

[What the role is]

The Lecturer is responsible for designing and delivering curriculum, developing instructional materials, and facilitating lessons across multiple delivery modes, including classroom teaching, online (synchronous and asynchronous) learning, hybrid formats, and experiential activities such as projects, fieldwork, debates, or immersion programmes. The role also involves providing academic and career guidance, engaging with industry and community partners, contributing to institutional initiatives, and supporting student development. It requires subject expertise, innovative pedagogy, adaptability to new technologies, and a strong commitment to continuous professional growth and student success.

[What you will be working on]

Key Responsibilities

Curriculum Design & Delivery

• Design, develop, conduct, and review Language and Communication curriculum for PET and CET learners.
• Develop and conduct National Education (NE) and Life Skills modules for PET learners.
• Incorporate instructional design frameworks and ensure curriculum relevance to educational and industry standards.

Instructional Innovation

• Deliver innovative, experiential lessons in face-to-face, online, and hybrid formats.
• Develop online learning packages, language proficiency tests, and self-directed learning resources.
• Integrate generative AI and digital platforms to enhance pedagogy and assessment.

Research & Industry Engagement

• Conduct research on current educational trends to ensure curriculum effectiveness.
• Analyse student learning profiles to identify needs and implement targeted interventions.
• Engage in student-industry or community-based activities that enrich applied learning.

Student Support & Development

• Provide academic, career guidance, and pastoral care, fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
• Facilitate NE, Life Skills, and Education & Career Guidance modules.
• Support student development through field trips, industry programmes, and overseas exposure.

Institutional & Administrative Contributions

• Participate in orientation, outreach, and committee work at Centre, School, and Polytechnic levels.
• Contribute actively to institutional initiatives that enhance student engagement and success.

[What we are looking for]

• Relevant qualification or experience in English Language, Applied Linguistics, Communication Studies, Mass Communication or related fields.
• Teaching experience is preferred, but not required.
• Experience in quantitative and qualitative data analysis is preferred, but not required.
• Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to lead and facilitate discussions, mediate opinions, and evaluate reasoning.
• Passion for teaching, learning, and working with youth and adult learners.
• Effective team player, adaptable in a fast-paced environment.
• Familiarity with educational technologies, generative AI tools, and digital learning platforms.
• Supervisory or leadership experience is preferred, but not required.
