Job Summary
Lead all areas of grant and contract proposal management from seeking funding opportunities to proposal development, compliance review and proposal submission to sponsor. Assist in award management, compliance and close out.
Job Description
70% Proposal Funding & Proposal Development
• Seek funding opportunities and actively disseminate information to appropriate parties
• Reduce administrative burden for seeking funding and preparing proposals
• Facilitate grant submission process and enhance grant success
• Edit and restructure proposals to better meet guidelines and focus of funding sponsor; budget advising and assistance; train faculty/staff on electronic submission of proposals
• Coordination of major application initiatives
• Manage limited submission proposal process
• Ensure all federal, state, university and sponsor compliance requirements are met before submitting university approved proposal to sponsor; submit proposals to sponsor; enter proposal information in ERP and ensure file is properly prepared and filed; follow up on status of proposals and maintain audit records
• Develop and provide training for grants and contracts to campus
20% Award
• Review/Negotiate Award Notices and Contract Documents. Identify and reconcile any differences between proposal and award, including scope of work, effective dates, budgets, etc.
• Process awards; ensure required UNO compliance approval was granted (i.e. IRB, IACUC, CFDA form) if applicable; enter all required data in ERP including Tasks; monitor and update tasks as they come due or are changed including progress reports, IRB approval, etc.
• Confer and correspond with funding agencies to obtain and disseminate information regarding continuation of funding, no cost extensions, pre-award costs and reallocation of funds; negotiate amendment with sponsor and researcher input, acquire appropriate approvals, process award, enter in ERP and distribute to appropriate parties
10% General and Close-out
• Confer and correspond with funding agencies to obtain and disseminate information regarding continuation of funding, no cost extensions, pre-award costs and reallocation of funds; negotiate amendment with sponsor and researcher input, acquire appropriate approvals, process award, enter in ERP and distribute to appropriate parties
• Participate in workshops throughout the year on relevant and timely grant related activities
• Attend training opportunities, stay current on regulatory requirements and assist UNO administration in maintaining compliance
• Other duties as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of experience in research development or a closely related field;
• Excellent organizational and communication skills;
• Competence with Microsoft Office, especially Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Master’s degree;
• Five or more years of experience in research development or a closely related field;
• Workday experience.
