The opportunity
As Manager, Research Systems, you will lead the strategic management and ongoing improvement of the University’s research administration systems, supporting areas such as grants, ethics, academic profiles, research outputs and related operational processes. This is a newly created leadership role with the opportunity to shape both the function and the team as the University modernises a complex legacy landscape.
You will play a key role in operationalising myResearch Sydney, a flagship Digital Sydney initiative. More than a replacement for IRMA, myResearch Sydney is a new integrated research administration system designed to simplify the research lifecycle by bringing together the people, processes and technology that support research administration, with staged delivery informed by close consultation with researchers and professional staff.
What you’ll do
• Lead the roadmap, support, enhancement, and lifecycle management of the University’s research systems.
• Manage a specialist team responsible for application support, maintenance, and continuous improvement.
• Partner with research stakeholders and ICT teams to improve integration, service quality, and user experience.
• Support the delivery and operationalisation of My Research Sydney and related initiatives.
• Oversee governance, reporting, prioritisation, and issue resolution across the research systems portfolio .
What we’re looking for
• Experience leading platforms, systems, or application services in a complex ICT environment
• Strong people leadership skills, with the ability to build capability and lead through change
• Background in service management, operational support, and continuous improvement
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills, including the ability to work across technical and business teams
• Experience in a research-intensive, higher education, or similarly complex environment is beneficial
