ChristianaCare's Center for Surgical Optimization (CSO) prepares patients for surgery by supporting them from the time a decision is made for surgery until the day of surgery. We “meet the patient where they are” by managing co-morbidities and providing education for best outcomes post-surgery. The Senior Medical Assistant Role is an integral part of the care team: greeting the patient upon arrival, obtaining medication history, labs and EKG, retrieval of critical information such as consults and reports to expedite optimization for surgery, and schedule appointments.

The Medical Assistant II is responsible for assisting clinicians in the examination and treatment of patients, promoting patient and physician satisfaction through proactive patient access activities. Collaborating with physicians/offices, patients and interdepartmental staff to ensure a seamless delivery of patient care and appropriate fiscal management of the encounter and delivering quality patient care and to perform other clinical and clerical duties within the center.
Flexibility to cross cover our Wilmington location is strongly preferred.
Work Schedule:
• Monday through Friday : 8:00am to 4:30am
• Wilmington Location hours: 7:30am- 4:00pm
• No weekends or holidays

Duties / Responsibilities:
The Medical Assistant II will be assisting our clinicians in patient examination and treatment, promoting patient satisfaction through proactive patient access activities. Collaborating with physicians, patients, and interdepartmental staff, you will ensure seamless patient care delivery and fiscal management. You will greet and support patients, record vitals, and perform point of care testing, venipuncture, ECG, and specimen collection. Preparing treatment rooms with necessary supplies, performing quality control on POCT equipment, and completing patient-specific paperwork are also responsibilities. Handling patient call backs, scheduling tests, and performing daily operational activities are also essential responsibilities. Coordinating patient care activities with insurance companies, care managers, and physician office staff minimizes financial risk and maximizes patient care delivery.
Position Qualifications:
• High School Graduate or GED required.
• A graduate of a recognized Medical Assistant Program or hold current Medical Assistant Certification by a national organization accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) or the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).
• BLS certification
• At least 2 years of progressively responsible clinical administrative experience required.
• 2 years’ experience as a Medical Assistant required
• Associate degree in business/Medical related field preferred.
• Previous insurance or third-party experience is preferred.

Hourly Pay Range: $19.84 - $29.76
This pay rate/range represents ChristianaCare’s good faith and reasonable estimate of compensation at the time of posting. The actual salary within this range offered to a successful candidate will depend on individual factors including without limitation skills, relevant experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements.
