Let’s build what’s next, together.
What this role is all about
As a Software Engineer in our Platform team at Infobip, you will help build and evolve the core foundations that enable scalable and reliable communications across voice, messaging, and other channels. You will join a cross-functional team responsible for designing, building, and operating backend services that support high-throughput, data-intensive systems used at global scale. The role emphasizes strong software engineering fundamentals, ownership across the full service lifecycle, and adaptability in a domain where priorities and product boundaries can evolve over time. While parts of the current stack are Java-based, the role is intentionally technology-agnostic and open to engineers from different technical backgrounds.
What you’ll do
• Design, develop, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot backend services that support core platform capabilities
• Take end-to-end ownership of the code you produce, from development through production support and reliability
• Build well-structured, testable, and scalable solutions following clean code and maintainability principles
• Develop and operate distributed and parallel systems that run across multiple data centers
• Work with relational databases as part of data-intensive backend services
• Collaborate within cross-functional Scrum teams through planning, breakdown, and delivery, while contributing to knowledge sharing within the engineering community
• Work closely with Product Development to translate product and business requirements into robust technical solutions
• Contribute to a flexible team setup that can evolve based on domain ownership and product needs
• Apply an AI-first mindset when approaching engineering problems
• Effectively leverage AI to improve code quality, testing processes, and technical documentation
What makes you a strong fit
• At least 3+ years of professional experience as a software engineer in backend or full-stack roles
• Strong software engineering fundamentals, including object-oriented programming and concurrent or parallel system design
• Experience designing and building distributed backend services in a production environment
• Solid experience working with relational databases in data-driven systems
• Comfortable working in agile environments such as Scrum, with regular ceremonies and iterative delivery
• Openness to working in a Java-focused environment and learning or using multiple programming languages as needed
• Professional, proactive mindset with a strong sense of ownership and responsibility
• Fluent in English, both spoken and written
Nice-to-have qualifications
• Production experience with Java or another backend programming language
• Familiarity with build tools, dependency management, or multi-module project setups
• Experience with messaging, streaming, or caching systems
• Exposure to frontend technologies, with interest in expanding toward a broader or full-stack profile
• Experience working in dynamic environments where priorities, domains, or team structures change over time
