This job advertisement is to fill an existing vacancy in the Part-Time Contract Positions (Employee Group)Qualifications:

• PhD/ABD in a field of German Studies. Native or near native knowledge of German and native or near native knowledge of one of the following languages: French, Italian or Spanish.
• Ability to work alone without immediate supervision.
• Experience with course coordination or academic program coordination.
• Ability to work with web-based pedagogical technology, materials and resources (including textbook instructional platform, etc.). Competence in the use of email, Brightspace, internet, common office software (e.g., Word, Excel) and multi-media equipment. 
• An in-depth knowledge of the challenges of language learning and teaching is essential 
• Knowledge and experience in experiential learning and community engaged learning

Responsibilities:

• Coordinate PTIs

• Organize and run the PTI orientation with the assistance of the Departmental Admin Assistant and Chair

• Proctor exams if required

• Address student concerns and questions

• Vet and order textbooks

• Work with and modify open access course materials as required

• Gather and evaluate pedagogical materials for Department programs

• Build on the current efforts of ITAL and GERM to share courses with other universities and to explore new opportunities for ITAL and GERM, including for HILA

• Communicate deadlines for exams, submission of final grades and other related tasks to PTIs and ensure that the deadlines are met

• Assist PTIs with construction of course Brightspace sites

• Review and proof-read exams and tests

• Organize and coordinate conversation hour for all MLLC programs

• Prepare for and attend Fall Preview and Spring Open House

• Organize and support Spring language course delivery

• Assist Chair to address linguistic needs of students from the Goodman School of Business students enrolled in the ESB dual degree programs.
• Other academic related administrative duties as required.

Rate of pay:

$27.50/hour

Total hours: 192
