Perinatal Data Coordinator - Labor and Delivery - Per Diem 8 hours (8:00AM to 4:30PM) (Union, Non-Exempt)
About this role
The Perinatal Data Coordinator provides quality, clerical, and data collection support in the Maternal Child Health Department.
JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Report any discrepancies immediately to the Director of MCH.
• Maintain appropriate level of supplies and forms needed including typing, and photocopying.
• Order material with the approval of the Director of MCH.
• Inventory and order all handouts for supply cart as needed.
• Review all files and send the report to the Director of MCH.
• Submit Time and Attendance Exception Sheet to Director of MCH, then to Payroll
• Assist with walk-in tours and maternity tours when available; and the client is unable to schedule a time with the group tour.
• Interpersonal relationships/communication skills.
• The ultimate goal of the coordinator is to have the participants’ care completed effectively and efficiently in a manner that benefits the client and maintains USC Arcadia Hospital’s budget.
• Must be knowledgeable, articulate, and capable of effective written and verbal expression.
• Appearance should be neat and clean in accordance with the Nursing Department Policy and Dress Code Policy.
• Wears photo identification badge while on duty in the hospital.
• Observe the Hospital Grievance Policies.
• Brings all grievances and concerns to the Director of MCH.
• Follow through with proper channels if unsatisfied with the process after meeting with the Director of MCH.
• Maintains confidentiality regarding patients, participants, and employee information.
• Professional Development: Attends a minimum of two (2) Staff meetings.
• Maintain a current CPR card.
• Maintain a current annual review of all hospital policies.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Education:
High School or equivalent
Minimum Experience:
1 year Medical Record Department (HIM) experience.
1 - 2 years Processing Birth Certificates in an acute care facility.
Minimum Skills:
Excellent skills in the use of networked personal computers and data entry and data base relationships.
Detail oriented and aware of the importance and impact of data quality.
Must be able to use Microsoft Office applications and serve as a resource on the use of the application to staff.
Proficient in keyboard typing, Microsoft Word and Excel.
Content knowledge of medical terminology.
Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Able to function independently and as a member of a team.
Excellent working knowledge of acute care demographic and clinical data elements, medical terminology and formulae.
Knowledgeable of JCAHO standards especially those related to Improving Performance.
Completes Birth Record and other required forms according to established guidelines and regulatory requirements.
Reviews, verifies and enters data into various data bases and electronic programs and paper forms as required.
Required Certifications:
Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association.
Preferred Experience:
1 - 2 years Newborn Screening Data reporting.
Pay Transparency
The hourly rate range for this position is $25.00 to $39.69.
