Principal, Data Engineer

Accountabilities:

• Lead the design, development, and delivery of scalable data pipelines and data architecture solutions, ensuring reliability, performance, and alignment with business needs.

• Translate business requirements into technical designs, driving end-to-end implementation from discovery through production deployment.

• Build and optimize data workflows using modern ETL/ELT tools, cloud platforms, and distributed data systems.

• Provide technical leadership across client engagements, influencing architecture decisions and ensuring best practices in engineering delivery.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including analysts, engineers, and stakeholders to define data strategy and execution approaches.

• Oversee data quality, governance, observability, and operational stability across multiple environments and client systems.

• Mentor and guide junior engineers, contributing to capability development and engineering excellence within teams.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in data engineering, software engineering, or related technical roles in enterprise or consulting environments.

• Strong expertise in data pipeline tools (e.g., Airflow, ETL frameworks) and distributed data processing systems.

• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, Scala, or similar.

• Hands-on experience with modern data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks, Redshift, or equivalent).

• Solid understanding of cloud environments (AWS or GCP preferred) and data architecture principles.

• Experience working across the full project lifecycle, from requirements gathering to deployment and optimization.

• Strong consulting, communication, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence technical and non-technical audiences.

• Proven ability to operate in complex, fast-paced, client-facing environments with multiple priorities.
