Principal Engineer, Applied AI

Accountabilities

• Lead the design, development, and deployment of Generative AI solutions across customer-facing and internal platforms, ensuring scalability, reliability, and production readiness.

• Build and optimize LLM-based systems including RAG pipelines, vector database integrations, prompt engineering workflows, and AI-powered applications such as chatbots, summarization tools, and document intelligence systems.

• Develop and deploy conversational AI and agent-based systems across digital and voice channels, supporting real-time user interactions and operational automation.

• Create proof-of-concept applications to evaluate new GenAI use cases such as knowledge assistants, classification systems, and intelligent document processing.

• Partner with ML/AI Ops teams to ensure robust pipelines, observability, deployment reliability, and ongoing performance monitoring of AI systems.

• Collaborate with product and engineering leadership to define architectural standards, align technical strategy, and drive cross-team execution of AI initiatives.

• Evaluate external AI vendors and APIs, integrate third-party solutions where appropriate, and guide production rollouts of GenAI capabilities.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in machine learning, AI engineering, data engineering, or software engineering, with recent hands-on focus on Generative AI and LLM-based systems.

• Strong Python expertise with experience using modern AI/ML frameworks (e.g., LangChain, Hugging Face, Transformers, OpenAI APIs).

• Proven experience building and deploying production-grade AI applications, particularly chatbots or conversational AI systems.

• Deep knowledge of RAG architectures, vector databases (FAISS, Pinecone, Weaviate, Chroma), and prompt engineering strategies.

• Strong understanding of LLM evaluation, tuning, orchestration, and cost/performance optimization techniques.

• Solid SQL skills and familiarity with large-scale data platforms (e.g., Snowflake).

• Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex AI concepts into clear insights for technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Experience working in fast-paced, cross-functional environments with strong ownership and collaboration mindset.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
