About this role
We are looking for a Principal Systems Engineer-Avionics to join our Avionics, Video and Systems Team!
As Principal Systems Engineer you will have technical oversite, governance and leadership for system developments across several integrated project teams including, at times, running a team and acting as design authority for specific programs. The role will include developing the overall systems engineering capability to adopt best practices and mentoring engineers towards becoming first in class.

Your Challenge
• Provide technical oversite, governance and leadership for complex avionics system developments, including safety critical guidance.
• Support IPTs with systems team management, control account management and design authority approvals. Control account management requires that tasks and work packages are allocated to appropriate resources and completed in accordance with the applicable project plan.
• Architect systems engineering solutions and generate work breakdown structures for new programs and bids.
• Develop systems engineering capability to ensure a best in industry approach. Evaluate latest tools and methodologies (e.g. MBSE) to assess their benefits for our developments. Mentor and develop engineers accordingly.
• Where necessary, implement all aspects of the system design lifecycle from requirements capture to architecture definition, product qualification, verification, and certification.
• Support the program manager with technical guidance and, when necessary, development progress.
• Where necessary, ensure all hardware, software and firmware developments are aligned to the system requirements.
• Support certification activities for company products.
What You Bring
Essential Criteria:
• Extensive knowledge of requirements elicitation, management and requirements based design.
• Proven track record in systems engineering throughout the whole system development lifecycle.
• Educated to Degree/HND level in an appropriate subject. In exceptional cases, relevant experience may be substituted for formal qualifications/training
• Relevant experience within an aerospace/automotive/medical/safety-critical environment.
• Team leadership experience.
Desirable Criteria:
• Experience with requirements management tools such as DOORS.
• Knowledge of ARP4754, DO-254, DO-178 and DO-160.
• Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
