About this role

Position Overview:

The Data Strategy team within Neuberger Private Markets provides centralized oversight of end-to-end investment and portfolio data, including acquisition, ingestion, quality control, and data accessibility. The team serves as the first line of defense for triaging, coordinating, and completing data requests across all Neuberger Private Markets divisions, encompassing Primary, Secondary, and Co-investment strategies in Private Equity and Private Credit, as well as other products such as Funds of Hedge Funds and Consumer Brands, coupled with all the complexity of a fast growing, pioneering, and privately owned global asset manager.

This role requires close partnership with external data providers and internal teams including Front Office, Data Management, CRM, Finance, Legal, Technology, Research, and Marketing.

This is an individual contributor role for someone building a career in financial services data who wants hands-on exposure to the full breadth of private markets investing. You will work closely with senior team members and investment professionals to support the accuracy, completeness, and delivery of investment data that drives decision-making across Neuberger Private Markets — developing fluency at the intersection of portfolio operations, investor reporting, and data strategy.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Data Gathering & Ownership: Become a domain expert in portfolio company data gathering and analytical requests. Provide end-to-end ownership of investment and portfolio company metrics, including monitoring deal closings, tracking key financial figures, and working closely with investment professionals on data gathering, compiling, quality control, analysis, and presentation for internal analysis and client reporting.

• Data Aggregation & Analytics: Gather, aggregate, and produce analytics on portfolios, underlying investments, and client accounts; accurately summarize and present results to senior management. Contribute to the development of analytical models and reporting frameworks that enable stakeholders to answer recurring questions efficiently.

• Fundraising & Marketing Support: Work with the Fundraising, Marketing, and Finance teams to provide portfolio analysis for investor reporting and RFPs for new investors.

• Performance KPIs & Reporting: Leverage multiple data sources to calculate complex performance KPIs for client reporting, marketing, RFPs, fundraising, and performance analysis. Help ensure that reporting outputs are timely, accurate, and aligned with business, technology, and regulatory requirements.

• Data Governance & Quality: Assist in maintaining data governance standards, including data ownership, quality rules, lineage, and access controls, to help ensure consistency, accuracy, and auditability of portfolio data across platforms.

• Data Innovation & Automation: Assist with implementing new data source applications and participate in identifying opportunities to leverage AI, automation, and modern tools to streamline processes and enhance workflows.

• Ad Hoc Requests: Complete recurring or ad hoc portfolio company data requests as needed.

Experience & Skills Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.

• 2–5 years of hands-on experience in a financial services or accounting setting, with exposure to private markets, alternative investments, or portfolio operations preferred.

• Familiarity with alternative investment strategies (Private Equity, Private Credit, Secondaries, Co-investments, Venture Capital, etc.), the GP/LP data landscape and the private equity lifecycle (fundraising, deployment, monitoring, exit) is a plus.

• Advanced Excel (Power Query, VBA, financial modeling).

• SQL & Database experience (MySQL, Oracle, MongoDB, Snowflake) strongly preferred.

• Python experience (Pandas, PySpark, Matplotlib/Seaborn) strongly preferred.

• Data visualization & automation tools (Alteryx, Power BI, Tableau, Qlik) a plus.

• Portfolio monitoring platforms (Chronograph, iLevel, Burgiss, eFront, Cobalt) and market data providers (Bloomberg, CapIQ, Preqin, etc.) a plus.

• Familiarity with ETL concepts and data pipeline workflows a plus.

• Exposure to fund accounting concepts and investor reporting cycles is a plus.

• Awareness of regulatory and compliance considerations relevant to private markets reporting is a plus.

• Detail-oriented and highly organized with strong analytical and time management skills.

• Ability to manage multiple concurrent assignments and prioritize effectively.

• Strong communication skills with the ability to present data clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Team player with a strong work ethic; ability to work independently with critical thinking.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
