About this role

At Nova Credit, we’re on a mission to power financial inclusion globally, building a unified platform for credit and financial data that meaningfully impacts lives. Our software engineers develop innovative solutions that incorporate data integrations and advanced analytics into seamless user experiences, transforming diverse data into actionable risk insights.

Join us to help unlock economic opportunities for consumers historically excluded from traditional credit systems. We foster a dynamic, inclusive environment that values diversity, intellectual honesty, and innovation, committed to supporting your professional growth.

OUR TECHNOLOGY STACK

We leverage Node.js, React, TypeScript, Python, PostgreSQL, and AWS to bring our products to life. For Data Analytics we use MixPanel, DataDog, Grafana and Sagemaker.

THE OPPORTUNITY

We're looking for a product-minded analytics leader with 5+ years of experience across product analytics, data engineering, or both, to bring structure, rigor, and creativity to how Nova Credit uses data to drive product decisions. Today, our analytics landscape spans multiple tools, inconsistent practices, and untapped potential—and we need someone who can own the path forward bringing product and data engineering lenses to our team.

In this role you'll partner closely with teams across Product, Engineering, and Business Operations to establish analytics best practices, support customer-facing data processes, and bring product metrics to the forefront of decision-making. This will include not only leveraging existing tools but also building out new functionalities (Data Engineering skills will serve you well).  The ideal candidate  thrives in ambiguity, loves building from the ground up, and is energized by the challenge of making data accessible and actionable across an organization. Additionally, the role requires strong SQL skills, experience with monitoring tools like DataDog, and a bias toward shipping quick wins (while demonstrating vision for long-term strategies).

This is a 6 month contract-to-hire role reporting to our Director of Technical Programs and Strategic Initiatives. This is a remote friendly role, but those in the NYC metropolitan or SF Bay areas are preferred.

Nova Credit offers a dynamic and inclusive work environment where you can meaningfully impact the lives of people historically excluded from the credit system. We value diversity, intellectual honesty, and innovation and are committed to supporting our team members' professional growth and development. If you're passionate about leveraging technology to drive financial inclusion, we want to hear from you!

SAMPLE PROJECTS:

• Auditing and rationalizing our analytics tool stack across the company, then developing best practices, templates, and self-serve frameworks so GTM teams are empowered to develop their own analytics

• Owning and optimizing the end-to-end processing through our data validation pipeline from QC through file delivery — a hybrid data science / data engineering / analytics workstream that supports our sales and launch motions.

• Partnering with Business Operations to define, source, and visualize product metrics (conversion, latency, credit quality) for our new account health hub

• Building repeatable frameworks for measuring feature impact and automating product metric tracking, so data-driven decision-making becomes the default rather than the exception

WITHIN THE FIRST MONTH, YOU'LL:

• Audit Nova Credit's existing analytics tools and data infrastructure to understand what we have, what's redundant, and where the gaps are.

• Embed within the Product, Sales, and Business Operations teams to understand current workflows, pain points, and how data is (and isn't) being used today.

• Take ownership of our pre-sales data validation pipeline, owning the existing processes for ingestion, QC, and processing of data — and begin identifying opportunities for improvement.

TO MOVE TO A FULL HIRE, YOU'LL:

• Deliver a clear recommendation on our analytics tool stack: what stays, what goes, and the best use case for each tool.

• Develop best practices and templated analytics for common questions, enabling self-serve analytics across the organization while QC'ing analysis from others to ensure quality and consistency.

• Have optimized our pre-sales data validation pipeline, with an eye toward automation and scalability.

• Have defined plans and built MVP versions of 1-2 additional analytics initiatives, with demonstrated value in upleveling across the organization

YOUR SKILLSET:

• You have 5+ years of experience in product analytics, business intelligence, or a hybrid analytics/data science role in a highly regulated space such as FinTech or HealthTech.

• You are fluent in SQL and experienced with modern BI and analytics tools (e.g., Mixpanel, Amplitude, Looker, Tableau, or similar).

• You have a knack for making sense of messy tool landscapes and can translate complexity into clear, actionable frameworks for others.

• You're comfortable working across the data stack—whether that means writing queries, building dashboards, scripting data pipelines, or QC'ing someone else's analysis.

• You thrive in ambiguity and are energized by building processes from scratch rather than inheriting a well-oiled machine.

• You communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, and you know how to make data approachable and useful for people who aren't analysts.

• You have a bias toward action and a strong sense of ownership—you don't wait to be told what to do.

BONUS QUALIFICATIONS:

• You have experience in financial services, credit, or lending—particularly working with credit data, risk analytics, or alternative data.

• You've built or significantly improved a company's self-serve analytics capabilities.

• You have hands-on experience with data pipeline tools (e.g., dbt, Airflow, or similar) and are comfortable writing Python or similar for data processing and automation.

$123,200 - $161,700 USD per year (IC3)
