About the Role

Join a world-leading research program at the MND Centre for Drug Discovery, supporting the development of next-generation therapies for motor neurone disease. Working within a highly collaborative and well-resourced laboratory environment, you will play a key role in a major drug screening program, assisting with cutting-edge stem cell-based disease modelling and translational research. This position offers the chance to work alongside leading researchers, utilising advanced technologies and methodologies to help deliver impactful discoveries and improved outcomes for people living with MND.

This role may also require working across multiple locations, including Bedford Park and the Adelaide CBD.

Key responsibilities include:

• Supporting the design and delivery of experimental research using patient-derived iPSC models, including data collection and analysis

• Assisting in the development and application of advanced assays, imaging techniques and large-scale drug screening activities

• Contributing to research outputs, including reports, publications and milestone deliverables for funded projects

• Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and external partners to support translational research and therapeutic discovery outcomes

This position makes a significant contribution to the University’s strategic plan to change 10 million lives, Every One Matters, by 2035, through directly contributing to the strategic driver of Research that Matters, by supporting innovative, translational research that seeks to develop new therapies and improve outcomes for people living with motor neurone disease..

About You

You are a motivated and detail-oriented research professional with a strong foundation in biological or biomedical science and a genuine passion for translational research. You bring hands-on laboratory experience, a commitment to high-quality scientific practice, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary environment. With strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach, you are eager to contribute to impactful research outcomes that advance understanding and treatment of disease.

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

• A relevant degree in biological or biomedical science, or an equivalent combination of experience and training

• Experience in laboratory-based research, ideally including human stem cell culture and complex experimental techniques

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to perform rigorous and reproducible experimental work

• Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to contribute to collaborative research projects and outputs
