Position Information
The Texas A&M AgriLife Research - Beeville Station is seeking a motivated, team-oriented Research Associate to support ongoing beef cattle nutrition and reproductive physiology research programs. Tasks include performing animal husbandry and technical procedures with cattle. Supervise data collection and record-keeping for research projects, laboratory records, and farm records. Work independently and to supervise research activities and other lab personnel.
Responsibilities:
• Help manage research projects related to beef cattle nutrition and reproductive physiology. Perform independent or supervisory roles in research activities requiring an advanced level of knowledge in a field of science or learning, are predominantly intellectual and varied in character, and require consistent use of discretion and judgment.
• Coordinate with outside vendors for laboratory, livestock, and farm supplies.
• Organize work schedules for all farm employees and coordinate with Human Resources.
• Collaborate with principal investigator and graduate students in preparing and performing research projects.
• Evaluate, select, and apply standard techniques of routine research; keep detailed records of data.
• Install, operate, and/or repair research equipment.
• Summarize results for inclusion in scientific and clientele-oriented publications.
• Perform general laboratory maintenance and record keeping.
• Perform general farm tasks and animal husbandry.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in relevant field.
• Two years of related professional experience.
• Strong background in cattle management and production systems.
• Excellent verbal communication skills.
• Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
• Ability to effectively utilize a computer and applicable software to present data and perform other compute related tasks.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in animal science or related field.
• Experience in general laboratory tasks.
• Experience with record keeping.
