Position Summary:

• Full Consideration Date: June 30, 2026.

• Work Unit Description: The Department of Health and Exercise Science (HES) is one of eight academic programs in the College of Health and Human Sciences. To learn more about the Department, visit our web site at https://www.chhs.colostate.edu/hes/.

Salary Range:

• $50,000 - $53,000 (RAI) or $53,000 - $56,000 (RAII)

Essential Job Duties:

• Support daily research operations through lab organization, supply ordering, record management, and compliance with Human and Animal Institutional Review Board protocols and grant requirements.

• Recruit, screen, test, and train human research participants (ages 18–95), conduct survey and exercise testing, and assist with physiological experiments involving animals, tissue, and blood samples.

• Collect, manage, analyze, and maintain research data using custom computer programs, including data entry, statistical analysis, reporting, and documentation.

• Train and supervise undergraduate, graduate, and research support personnel while participating in professional development activities and supporting overall laboratory administration.

Conditions of Employment:

• Pre-employment Criminal Background Check (required for new hires).

Minimum Qualifications:

• Applicants applying for a Research Associate I position must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology, Biomedical Sciences, or related discipline.

• Applicants applying for a Research Associate II position must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology, Biomedical Sciences, or related discipline plus 3 years relevant professional experience or a Master’s degree in related discipline.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in appropriate discipline preferred for RA I positions.

• Doctoral degree in appropriate discipline for RAII positions.

• For basic science research positions, experience with basic biochemistry, molecular biology, and cell culture techniques.

• Experience with graded exercise testing and background in human physiology and/or biomechanics.

• Experience in observational research, surveys, and questionnaires.

• Other research experience with data collection and analysis, familiarity with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and a statistical software package.

• Prior experience in the day-to-day organization of research projects, including recruitment of and contact with study participants, coordination of data collection activities, and data management.
