Research Fellow (Safe driving assessments for AVs)
About this role
Established in 2010, the Energy Research Institute @ NTU (ERI@N) is a pan-university research institute that focuses on systems-level research for tropical megacities. It performs translational research that covers the energy value chain from generation to innovative end-use solutions, motivated by industrialization and deployment. ERI@N has multiple Interdisciplinary Research Programmes which focus on translational Research, Development & Deployment which focus on specific area of the energy value chain, and a number of Living labs and Testbeds which facilitate large scale technology deployment enabling validation and demonstration of real-world applications.
The Research Fellow will work in a project context whose ultimate objective is to develop technologies for validating AV behaviour at a system level.
Key Responsibilities:
• Manage the technical aspects of the project and ensure that the deliverables are delivered on time.
• Manage stakeholder’s expectations.
• Validate project goals against existing technical standards and identify gaps and propose research activities required to fill these gaps.
• Perform analysis, lab and field testing on sensors and sensor systems.
• Organize meetings and intermediate technical progress reviews.
• Make presentations to partners.
Job Requirements:
• Holder of an engineering PhD, preferably in the field of science, engineering, complex systems or control with a good understanding of sensors and sensor systems.
• Strong analysis skills and a good understanding of sensors and vehicle systems and driving behaviours of these systems.
• Knowledge of the stakes and system safety challenges associated with the validation of autonomous vehicles is preferred.
• Skills in using simulation for system design validation.
• Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
• With analytical skills, strong autonomy and team spirit, the research fellow will have to demonstrate a keen sense of organization and perform the tasks assigned to him/her rigorously.
• Ability to work as a Research Fellow, reporting on progress and communicating results.
