• managing research projects at Children's Hospital in Westmead
• Base Salary $103,185 + 17% superannuation
About the opportunity
We are seeking a highly capable Research Officer to support and lead high‑quality research activities within a research‑intensive university environment based in the kid's research laboratories at Children's hospital at Westmead. Working under broad supervision, you will play a central role in managing research projects, grant activity, data governance, and stakeholder engagement, ensuring research outcomes are delivered efficiently, compliantly, and with impact. This role is suited to an experienced research professional who thrives in collaborative environments and enjoys supporting innovative research.
Key Responsibilities
• lead and optimise research projects, ensuring robust methodologies and achievement of research objectives
• Possess technical wet-laboratory skills such as cell culture, flow cytometry, molecular biology, immuno-phenotyping and related skills.
• Experience developing and troubleshooting wet-lab protocols (assay development, optimisation of protocols)
• Manage clinical interfacing with research participants, including liaising with pathology, sample processing, and biobanking
• provide advice on research direction, methodologies, and compliance requirements
• coordinate data management processes, including analysis, reporting, and data integrity
• manage research administration, documentation, publications, and compliance processes
• build and maintain strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders
• manage purchasing processes and resolve payment or financial discrepancies
• champion health and safety practices and contribute to continuous improvement.
About You
• hold a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or an equivalent combination of training and experience (Neuroscience, Immunology, Molecular Biology or related)
• have experience working in a research‑intensive or higher education environment
• have experience working in a research laboratory environment
• have strong capability in managing, analysing, and disseminating research data
• possess excellent analytical, organisational, and problem‑solving skills
• communicate clearly and effectively with a range of stakeholders
• demonstrate strong attention to detail and compliance requirements
• work collaboratively and contribute positively to a high‑performance team culture.
