Research Support Hourly, Civil and Environmental Engineering

The NOAA Cooperative Institute for Research to Operations in Hydrology (CIROH), is hiring for an hourly Research Support position, working with Mines faculty (Research Prof. Andy Wood) and external project team members.

The researcher will conduct geospatial data processing and analysis for large Earth Science datasets (100s of gigabytes) using common coding languages (e.g., Python) on high performance computing (HPC) systems.  The researcher will also prepare presentations for project meetings and possible science conference participation, contribute analyses and writing to publications, and prepare datasets for dissemination to the research community.

Minimum qualifications:

• PhD a computationally oriented discipline and
• Demonstrated proficiency in big data analysis as well as technical writing.

Preferred qualifications:

• PhD in an Earth Science discipline with strong computational experience, or in a related computational discipline, e.g., computer science, data science, and demonstrated proficiency in big data analysis as well as technical writing.

Annual Rate

$35.00 per hour

Mines takes into consideration a combination of candidate’s education, training and experience as well as the position’s scope and complexity, the discretion and latitude required in the role, work location, and external market and internal value when determining a salary level for potential new employees.
