Senior Backend Engineer
About this role
Accountabilities:
• Design, build, and maintain backend services and APIs that power core insurance platform features and customer experiences.
• Develop internal tools and systems that improve engineering productivity, business workflows, and operational safety.
• Integrate with external services such as payments, document processing, claims systems, and real-time data providers.
• Contribute to architectural evolution, including decisions around microservices, system design patterns, deployment strategies, and infrastructure improvements.
• Participate in system modernization efforts, ensuring legacy components align with current scalability and performance goals.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including product, data, and engineering to deliver reliable, production-grade systems.
• Provide technical mentorship, share expertise, and support team members in solving complex backend challenges.
Requirements:
• 4+ years of professional experience building production-grade backend systems in web-based environments.
• Strong hands-on experience with Go, including willingness to complete a technical coding challenge in Go.
• Proven track record of improving system stability, scalability, and performance in business-critical applications.
• Ability to design and deliver complete backend systems independently with minimal supervision.
• Solid understanding of distributed systems, APIs, databases (e.g., PostgreSQL), and cloud infrastructure concepts.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience collaborating in agile environments with daily stand-ups, code reviews, and iterative delivery cycles.
