Accountabilities
In this role, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining scalable backend systems and APIs that power an AI-native digital asset management platform. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, high-performance systems that support evolving product and customer needs.
• Design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs using Python and modern backend technologies
• Build scalable, secure, and high-performance systems supporting large volumes of digital assets and metadata
• Partner with AI/ML engineers and data scientists to integrate machine learning capabilities into production systems
• Develop robust data models, storage solutions, and retrieval systems ensuring reliability and data integrity
• Collaborate with frontend engineers to define and optimize API contracts and product functionality
• Participate in system architecture decisions, balancing scalability, maintainability, and speed of delivery
• Improve system observability, reliability, testing coverage, and production performance
• Contribute to the full software lifecycle, from design through deployment and ongoing optimization
• Participate in code reviews and uphold engineering best practices and code quality standards
Requirements
This position requires strong backend engineering expertise, with a focus on building scalable distributed systems and production-grade APIs. You should be comfortable operating in ambiguous environments and contributing to early-stage product development.
• 3–5+ years of experience in backend engineering, building and shipping production systems
• Strong proficiency in Python or similar backend programming languages
• Experience designing APIs, backend services, and data models with scalability in mind
• Solid understanding of databases, distributed systems, and asynchronous architectures
• Familiarity with system design principles, performance optimization, and reliability engineering
• Experience working in cross-functional teams with product, design, and data/ML partners
• Strong debugging, testing, and observability practices in production environments
• Ability to independently drive complex technical projects from concept to delivery
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills in distributed engineering teams
• Curiosity for emerging technologies, including AI-driven development tools
