This role is based out of our office in Fountain Valley, CA. The Target Pay Range for this position is $145,000 - $165,000 annually. At Antech, pay decisions are determined using factors such as relevant job-related skills, experience, education, training and budget.
As the Senior Data Governance Lead, you will play a principal role in setting the direction and vision for the division's Data Governance capability. Reporting to the Director of Data Engineering and Governance, you will lead the establishment, implementation, and ongoing operations of an enterprise-wide Data Governance function. You will be a key partner in building the data literacy of the organization, fostering a data-driven culture, and ensuring data is ready for scalable analytics and AI initiatives. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Strategic Development: Develop, lead, and implement the division's data governance framework, vision, and strategic direction. Establish and operate the enterprise-wide Data Governance function, including a stewardship model with executive data domain owners, business data managers, and data stewards.
• Policy and Standards: Develop and enforce data governance policies, standards, controls, and best practices for data quality, metadata management, and master/reference data management.
• AI Governance: Develop and implement governance practices for Artificial Intelligence to ensure ethical development, prevent algorithmic bias, and clearly label AI-generated content.
• Compliance and Privacy: Ensure all data usage is compliant with global regulatory, legal, and privacy requirements, including GDPR and CCPA/CPRA.
• Data Quality: Define and implement a Data Quality (DQ) Monitoring Framework. Enforce DQ metrics, lead monitoring efforts, and drive remediation strategies across all MARS Science & Diagnostics global businesses.
• Lifecycle Management: Direct the ongoing data lifecycle management process, from data creation and ingestion through archival and deletion.
• Metadata and Taxonomy Management: Take accountability for the delivery and management of key metadata artifacts, including data catalogs, data lineage, data dictionaries, and business glossaries. Lead the design and governance of an enterprise taxonomy and classification system.
• Collaboration and Enablement: Work closely with Data Architecture and Delivery teams to ensure data governance policies are embedded into solutions. Facilitate governance forums and working groups to drive decisions and communicate progress to diverse audiences, including senior management.
• Technology and Tools: Participate in the assessment and selection of data governance and data quality software applications.
• Maturity and Continuous Improvement: Conduct data governance maturity assessments and contribute to the strategic roadmap for continuous improvement.
• Culture and Training: Lead initiatives to build a data-driven culture by developing and delivering training, communication, and data literacy programs for data stewards and wider business.
Education and Experience
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in data governance, data management, data analytics, or related fields.
• Experience implementing data governance strategies, policies, and compliance frameworks.
• Strong understanding of data governance frameworks, data quality management, metadata management, data stewardship, and master data management.
• Experience conducting data quality assessments, implementing remediation plans, and establishing data quality rules.
• Experience working with data governance tools such as Microsoft Purview, Collibra, Alation, or Informatica.
• Knowledge of data privacy and security best practices, including data classification, access control, and regulatory compliance.
• Familiarity with cloud data platforms (Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud), particularly Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake, Databricks and Synapse Analytics.
• Proficiency with SQL, Python, or R for data querying, profiling, and analysis.
• Strong stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Demonstrated ability to translate business requirements into actionable data governance strategies.
• Agile experience, using tools like Jira or Azure DevOps to manage governance-related initiatives.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
• A minimum of 10+ years of progressive experience in Data Governance or Data Management, with at least 5 years in a senior or leadership role.
• Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP), Data Governance and Stewardship Professional (DGSP), or similar industry certification is highly preferred.
• Proven track record of developing and implementing enterprise-wide data governance strategies, policies, and compliance frameworks, preferably aligned to DAMA-DMBOK or a similar framework.
• Deep understanding of data quality management, metadata management, stewardship, and Master Data Management (MDM).
• Hands-on experience with data governance tools such as Collibra, Microsoft Purview, Alation, Informatica, Atlan, Reltio, or Profisee.
• Familiarity with modern cloud data platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS, OCI, Google Cloud) and services like Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake, Databricks, Synapse Analytics, Oracle ADW, or Snowflake.
• Strong working knowledge of global data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA/CPRA).
• Experience supporting analytics or AI/ML environments where data trust is critical.
• Experience working in Agile environments and using tools like Jira or Azure DevOps.
• Outstanding leadership, communication, and presentation skills, with a proven ability to lead and influence without direct authority.
• Expertise in data governance, data lineage, metadata management, data cataloging, and MDM.
• Strong stakeholder management skills with a track record of successfully navigating different business units to drive enterprise-wide standards.
• Ability to translate business requirements into an actionable data governance strategy and a clear vision.
• A collaborative mindset and proven ability to work with cross-functional teams to improve data quality and governance maturity.
• Experience developing KPIs and metrics to measure the effectiveness of data governance programs.
The associate is regularly required to apply manual dexterity, including hand/wrist flexibility, for computer keyboarding. The associate frequently is required to sit for extended periods of time, stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The associate is frequently required to hear and speak in order to use the telephone, make presentations and communicate with people in an office environment. The associate is occasionally required to sit and stoop, bend, kneel, or crouch. The associate must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.
The associate will primarily work in a typical office environment including use of cubicles, computers and overhead lighting. Temperature extremes will be minimal to nonexistent. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The associate will be required to use a computer, spreadsheets, database management, email, and the Internet. The associate is frequently required to use a calculator; fax, copy machine, and phone system. The associate must occasionally use media equipment such as an overhead projector, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Teams.
