How This Role Impacts Live Oak and Its People
The Senior Data & Risk Analyst supports an aligned department by strengthening data strategy, managing operational risk, and driving technology adoption. This role works closely with the department head and leadership team to improve financial and operational outcomes. The role helps ensure the integrity of systems, data, and processes that support portfolio health, performance management, and regulatory compliance. This role requires a strong analytics background, financial acumen, and a demonstrated ability to leverage business knowledge and data to evaluate performance, identify risk, and inform decision-making.
We are hiring for two roles — one supporting Small Business Banking and the other supporting our Credit division. Candidates selected to move forward will discuss the specific assignment during the recruiter screen. Both are onsite positions at our HQ in Wilmington, NC.
What You’ll Do at Live Oak
• Develop a deep understanding of business goals and priorities and align analytics and insights to desired outcomes
• Partner with enterprise data teams to build and maintain high‑quality datasets and ensure a single source of truth
• Extract, analyze, and interpret data using Databricks and related tools to generate reporting and actionable insights
• Build dashboards and track KPIs using BI tools and Excel
• Lead data reporting, quality, and automation efforts to improve transparency and operational efficiency
• Collaborate across departments to implement technology solutions that reduce risk and streamline workflows
• Recommend updates to policies, procedures, and controls to mitigate operational risk
• Identify and address process inefficiencies through data‑driven analysis and solutions
• Uphold Live Oak’s values through ethical conduct, collaboration, and accountability
• Maintain a high standard of regulatory awareness, including BSA, AML, CIP, and OFAC (as applicable to the aligned department)
Data & Technology
• Build and manage dashboards and databases using BI tools (Databricks, PowerBI, Tableau, Excel)
• Use SQL and Python to support data analysis, reporting, and automation
• Partner with Technology, Finance, Risk, Credit, Sales, and Operations teams to evaluate and implement third‑party software solutions
• Modernize legacy workflows using low‑code platforms and automation frameworks
• Communicate technical concepts and solutions clearly to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders
Performance Management & Analytics
• Own and maintain the KPI framework for the aligned department
• Develop executive‑ and board‑ready dashboards, insights, and data narratives that clearly communicate performance, risk, and key decisions
• Identify trends, emerging risks, and performance gaps and recommend corrective actions
• Conduct ad hoc analyses to investigate business questions and explain metric movement
• Lead monthly and quarterly reporting cadence, delivering clear executive‑level insights on performance, risk, and trends
• Support and reinforce a culture of accountability, collaboration, and data‑driven decision‑making
Risk Management
• Analyze portfolio or operational performance to identify emerging risks
• Prepare executive‑level reporting on asset quality, compliance, and risk trends
• Conduct risk assessments and support internal and external regulatory or audit requests
• Recommend policy, procedure, and control enhancements to reduce risk exposure
Business Support & Compliance
• Review systems, processes, and workflows for compliance with internal standards and applicable regulatory requirements
• Propose and implement process improvements to increase productivity, improve data integrity, and reduce operational risk
Required Experience
• Bachelor’s degree
• 5+ years of experience in financial services, with a focus on analytics, finance, risk, or portfolio management
• Experience performing financial analysis, building forecasts and business models, sales or marketing analysis, and/or developing customer or operational insights
• Familiarity with BI tools and dashboard development (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Databricks Dashboards) to visualize data and communicate insights
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including XLOOKUP, pivot tables, conditional formatting, and data analysis tools
• Strong ability to synthesize complex and disparate data into clear reports and insights that support executive decision‑making
• Ability to communicate complex ideas in a clear, concise, and accessible manner
• Demonstrated ability to partner effectively across functions and levels of the organization
• Strong track record of meeting hard deadlines and managing competing priorities
• Work sponsorship is not supported, now or in the future
Preferred Experience
• Advanced degree
• Strong proficiency in SQL, including writing complex queries and working with large, multi‑table datasets
• Financial analytics, portfolio management, or risk management experience

The base pay range for this position is $113,080.00 - $154,200.00 per year. Compensation may also include annual bonuses and long-term incentives, subject to various metrics and company policy. A candidate’s salary is determined by several factors including travel, relevant work experience or skills and expertise.
