About this role

Position Summary

The Senior Data Strategy & Governance Analyst supports the development, execution, and sustainment of Chord Energy’s enterprise data governance program, ensuring data is accurate, consistent, and trusted across the organization. This role partners closely with the Data Strategy & Governance Manager, Data Domain Owners, Data Stewards, IT, and data analytics teams to enable adoption of governance practices and improve how data is defined, managed, and used. The Senior Analyst plays a key role in translating governance standards into practical implementation across data domains, with a focus on data quality, metadata management, and stewardship enablement. This position is hands-on and execution-focused, contributing to governance processes, tools, and day-to-day operations that support enterprise data strategy. This position is located in downtown Houston, TX and reports to the Data Strategy & Governance Manager. Hybrid work schedule is an option for remote work on Mondays and Fridays. Level and salary commensurate with experience.

Essential Job Functions

• Support the execution and continuous improvement of enterprise data governance processes, standards, and procedures aligned with business priorities
• Partner with Data Domain Owners and Data Stewards to identify critical data elements, define data ownership, and support stewardship activities
• Assist in establishing and maintaining business and technical metadata, including data definitions, business glossaries, and data lineage
• Support data quality efforts by helping define rules, monitor data quality metrics, and coordinate remediation of data issues
• Contribute to the implementation and ongoing use of data governance tools (e.g., data catalog, data quality, lineage, stewardship workflows)
• Facilitate governance working sessions and support coordination of governance forums to drive alignment and progress across domains
• Monitor adherence to governance policies and standards, identifying gaps, inconsistencies, and opportunities for improvement
• Track and report on governance adoption, data quality metrics, and overall program effectiveness
• Develop and deliver training materials and documentation to support consistent data stewardship practices
• Collaborate with IT and data teams to ensure governance requirements are incorporated into data platforms and solutions
• Act as a resource for data governance practices, helping promote awareness and adoption across the organization

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Systems, Data & Analytics, Engineering, or related field
• 4+ years of experience in data governance, data management, analytics, or related disciplines
• Working knowledge of data governance concepts and frameworks (e.g., DMBOK, DCAM) and how they apply in practice
• Experience working with business and technical stakeholders to support data-related initiatives
• Working knowledge of SQL
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to translate business needs into structured data practices and support execution
• Ability to travel to the field (North Dakota) approximately quarterly or as needed
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and fluid environment; flexible with the demands of a growing company
• Ability to meet deadlines
• Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer, stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions, strength to lift and carry files weighing up to 10 pounds; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with enterprise data governance tools (e.g., data catalog, lineage, data quality, stewardship workflows)
• Experience working with modern data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Microsoft Fabric or similar)
• Prior experience in oil & gas or other operationally complex industries
• Experience supporting data quality, metadata management, or data stewardship initiatives
