What you’ll be doing...

The Colorado Springs NEC is a data center like facility with mission critical building infrastructure that supports the Wireless Network Core hardware. You will act as a team lead responsible for not only the overall building operations and infrastructure management but also the physical network equipment and power/space implementation of a mission critical facility.  The optimal candidate is technically advanced with strong project management leadership skills.

• Responsible for schedule oversight of all preventative maintenance, necessary maintenance and repairs of the building mechanical, electrical, HVAC, BAS, fire protection and plumbing systems.

• Maintaining and updating disaster recovery plans (DR), emergency action plans (EAP), spill prevention control and countermeasure (SPCC) & FUZE tools.

• Providing leadership and guidance to other network groups, vendors and our team in accordance with Verizon Core Values.

• Working effectively both as an individual and as a team leader to create successful solutions. Be a self-starter and have the ability to work independently. Participate in on-call rotation. Perform late night/early morning system changes during the maintenance window in a fast paced and highly visible environment.

• Managing Capital/OpEx budgets which could also include creating PO's, generating bid requests, processing payments/invoices, verifying payment execution with financial teams as well as providing all other necessary documentation required by Verizon internal financial audit processes.  Generating financial reports for management review.

• Providing hardware support that includes power equipment (PDUs/RPPs), multi-vendor transport, and network equipment including systems from Cisco, Juniper, Nokia, F5 and A10 such as routers, multilayer switches, load balancers, firewalls, and associated network infrastructure cabling.

• Coordinating installation, testing, and troubleshooting of transmission facilities (Dark Fiber, EBH, 100G,10G, OC192, OC48, OC3, T3, T1 and DS); and providing support to a varied user community; updating ticketing system, change controls and circuit work orders.

• Reviewing, writing and approving methods of procedures (MOPs) ensuring technical standards are adhered to and tasks are completed in the proper order. Execute MOPs so that no adverse effects will be caused within the network.

• Managing vendor power installation, operation and maintenance for the power distribution infrastructure between the RPP and the cabinets on the data center floor.  Provide vendor management of transport cabling, equipment installation, and support.

• Providing maintenance support for all data center physical hardware and cabling.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

• Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.

• Three or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through work experience and/or military experience.

• Advanced working knowledge of maintenance and operation of mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, life safety, fire protection, building automation and security systems.

• Experienced with Microsoft Office, Power Point, Visio, MS Project, Excel, and GSuite are required.

• Ability to work flexible hours and support on-call duties and shift work.

• Driver's license.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

• Master’s Degree.

• Project management and building operational skills.

• Analytical, interpersonal and communication skills.

• Organization and planning skills.

• Advanced knowledge of electrical switch gear, ASCO, building automation systems, chiller systems, air handlers, UPS systems, CRAH units, DC power systems, and generators.

• Training in at least 3 of the following areas: data networking and communications, wireless technologies, digital communications, operating systems and applications, telecommunications, and/or power distribution.

• Advanced knowledge of data transmission facilities such as OC192, OC48, CO48, T3, T1, DS1, 1G/ 10G native Ethernet, and SONET.

• Advanced knowledge of data networking protocols including TCP/IP, OSI, OSPF, BGP, MPLS, BFD, SIP and other LAN/WAN protocols.

• Experience in physical hands-on installation and troubleshooting of network transport, transmission and layer 1 network devices, including DACS and DCS panels and cross connects.

• Knowledge of optical transmission equipment administration and maintenance also considered a plus.  Familiarity with Protocol Analysis, Packet Capture, Wireshark, NetScout, Fluke, T-Berd and other Fiber test tools.

• Demonstrated advanced technical and analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot end-to-end systems.

The salary will vary depending on your location and confirmed job-related skills and experience. This is an incentive based position with the potential to earn more. For part-time roles, your compensation will be adjusted to reflect your hours.

The annual salary range for the Colorado location(s) listed on this job requisition based on a full-time schedule is: $96,500.00 - $158,000.00.
