We are looking for a highly motivated Senior Performance Engineer to join our Data Protection and Security engineering organization. In this role, you will be responsible for driving performance, scalability, and resiliency initiatives across Cohesity’s distributed platform and services. You will work closely with engineering, architecture, and product teams to benchmark, analyze, optimize, and scale next-generation enterprise data management solutions across on-prem and cloud environments.
The ideal candidate is systems-focused, analytical, automation-driven, and passionate about solving complex performance challenges in large-scale distributed systems.
HOW YOU’LL SPEND YOUR TIME HERE
• Measure, analyze, and optimize product performance to identify scalability and efficiency improvements
• Design and execute storage-oriented and cloud-scale performance workloads, benchmarks, and simulations
• Develop automation frameworks, tools, and infrastructure to improve performance testing coverage and productivity
• Partner closely with development and architecture teams to drive performance optimization initiatives across the platform
• Evaluate architectural trade-offs and prototype opportunities for performance enhancements
• Build analytical and simulation-based models to predict system behavior under real-world customer workloads
• Analyze bottlenecks across compute, storage, networking, and distributed services layers
• Drive performance reviews and communicate findings, recommendations, and risk areas to cross-functional stakeholders and leadership
• Contribute to best practices around benchmarking, observability, telemetry, and systems tuning
WE’D LOVE TO TALK TO YOU IF YOU HAVE MANY OF THE FOLLOWING
• BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field (or equivalent practical experience)
• 5+ years of experience in performance engineering, distributed systems, systems engineering, or related domains
• Prior experience working on enterprise infrastructure, storage, cloud, or security platforms preferred
• Strong understanding of performance analysis, benchmarking methodologies, and systems modeling
• Deep knowledge of distributed systems, operating systems, storage systems, hardware architecture, and data structures
• Experience with enterprise storage, backup/recovery, file systems, or data protection technologies
• Strong programming and scripting skills in Golang and/or Python
• Experience building automation frameworks and performance engineering infrastructure
• Understanding of cloud infrastructure, storage, networking, and resource limitations across public cloud environments
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work on complex technical challenges
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to influence across teams and leadership levels
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and rapidly evolving environment

Disclosure Pursuant to Applicable State Equal Pay Transparency Laws - This position has a starting pay range as listed below. Actual salary depends upon many factors, including a candidate’s skills, qualifications and experience, location, and salary expectations, and therefore a starting salary at the low end, high end, or even above the stated range may be offered. This position may also be eligible for bonus compensation, commission (if in a sales function), and/or equity grants. Additionally, full-time employees are eligible to participate in our comprehensive benefits framework, including health and wellness benefits, vacation, paid holidays and refresh days, 401(k) retirement plan, life and disability insurance coverages, and other benefits the Company may offer from time to time.
Pay Range :
$179,056.00-$198,951.03
The compensation noted above is based on an annualized hourly rate assuming normal full-time employment.
