About this role

• Part time (0.6FTE) fixed term until 31 Dec 2027 for a Senior Research Fellow

• Opportunity to lead co-design and digital health research with direct impact across workplace inclusion, mental health, insurance, and rehabilitation systems

• Base Salary $97,408.20 + 17% superannuation

About the opportunity

This role sits within a multidisciplinary research team focused on improving workplace inclusion, mental health, and participation outcomes for people with disability and chronic health conditions through enhancing autonomy and decision making. The successful applicant will drive nationally significant projects including Pathways, THRIVE@WORK and Beyond the Tick Box, involving co-design, stakeholder engagement, implementation research, and translation across academic, health, and industry settings. The role offers the opportunity to contribute to research with direct policy, workplace, and community impact.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

• work closely with researchers, lived experience contributors, insurers, rehabilitation providers, employers, and digital design partners across workplace and insurance sector projects

• lead the co-production of digital decision support tools to improve workplace inclusion, insurance and compensation systems for people with invisible disabilities

• develop and evaluate better consent processes for mental health and clinical research settings

• undertake systematic reviews and other data syntheses in these areas to inform policy

• manage stakeholder engagement, workshops, and co-design activities with industry and lived experience partners

• lead ethics, governance, evaluation, reporting, publications and mixed-method research outputs including reports, presentations, publications, and funding applications.

About you

• a PhD in Medicine, Psychology or Health Sciences

• expertise in co-designing and evaluating digital tools focused on workplace inclusion, informed consent, and disability disclosure (including experience with Articulate)

• demonstrated experience working with insurers, rehabilitation providers, employers, lived experience contributors, and health service stakeholders to embed tools within real-world systems

• expertise in human research ethics and governance processes, including HREC committee membership, HREC applications, consent design, participant-facing materials, and ethical implementation within mental health and clinical research settings

• experience conducting systematic reviews and meta-analyses using software such as CMA (Comprehensive Meta-Analysis) and R Studio and applying evidence synthesis to intervention and tool development

• demonstrated track record in leading mixed-methods research, publications, competitive grant applications, and translation-focused research programs.
