Software Engineer – Associate – Markets Systems - IT

Job Summary:

We are seeking a motivated and energetic Software Engineer to join our Markets Systems technology team. Our team develops and supports mission critical systems for trading, market data dissemination, and surveillance monitoring in cash and derivatives markets.
You will be involved in the full software development lifecycle, including design, development, testing, deployment, and production support. We work closely with infrastructure and cyber security teams to operate systems within a fast paced and highly regulated financial market environment in Hong Kong.

Job Duties:

Job Responsibilities

• Design, develop, enhance, and maintain backend services for broker OMS certification system of the exchange in cash and derivatives markets.
• Participate in modernization initiatives, including containerized and deploy cloud‑native platforms
• Provide production and test environment support, including off‑hours or weekend support when required
• Automate and streamline system health check and operations
• Establish and uphold engineering standards and best practices in line with organizational policies

Skills

Required Skills

• Strong experience in Java (Spring Boot) for backend development with 3 or more years of experience
• Familiarity with React (TypeScript / JavaScript) is an advantage, though the role is primarily backend‑focused
• Experience working as a full‑stack or backend engineer, with clear strength in backend system design and implementation
• Solid Linux and network (i.e. TCP/IP) troubleshooting skills

Optional Skills

• Hands‑on experience with Kubernetes‑based platforms (on‑prem or cloud)
• Experience using Helm for application packaging and deployment
• Python development experience, particularly for tooling, automation, or system migration
• Cloud or container‑related certifications are nice to have, but not mandatory
• Exposure to technical testing, deployment, or DevOps practices is an added advantage
